Woodlot (outside Chicago)

Has anybody tried this place (http://www.woodlotretreat.com)?

My wife and I live outside Chicago. We are looking for a closer place to go natural.

Unfortunately, when I emailed, it was returned ... user unknown. duh! [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif[/img]

I also tried calling a few times. I could hear them, but it seemed like they couldn't hear me. double duh! [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif[/img]

I resorted to writing a letter. Haven't hear a reply yet...

Although I can not respond to your question about "Woodlot" I can say that you will not find a resort closer to Chicago than "Lake O' The Woods Club" at Valparaiso Indiana, which may be an hours drive away from Chicago. Many Chicago people attend that nice resort. The web page is;

Chicago has a non-landed club called the "Chicago Sun Club" which holds events around Chicago (such as swimming, bowling, etc.) and visits this resort together.

Someone asked about that place on this forum a few months ago. It seems to be pretty much unknown. I remember hearing someone talking about it once (I think it was someone at the Chicago Sun Club) and it sounded like it was basically just the owner's private property that he rents out occasionally. You might try contacting someone at the CSC to see if they can tell you anything.

I have been at Woodlot. It is private property (as many nudist resorts are) owned by Mr. Gene Gall, an ex-police officer. Mr. Gall doesn't welcome single men. Mr. Gall is an older gentleman who likes to have a drink "once in a while" so he may not respond to emails and may sound strange on the phone, too. The property is nice with grass for sunning and strolling, very small indoor pool, small lake, trails, etc. Call ahead before going. Woodlot is located in Woodstock, IL. The Chicago Sun Club is having an outting there within the next few weeks so that should tell you something about Woodlot (positive). Lake of the Woods is a beautiful park. It is co-op owned by the members (like a condo board). Although it is "lovely", there is an "attitude" that exists at Lake of the Woods by many of the members. You may want to visit Ponderosa Sun Club which is located in Roselawn, Indiana. Easy to get to from Chicago (as close to Chicago as Lake of the Woods). Just drive straight down highway 65 until you see "Demotte Roselawn" exit. Ponderosa is not listed with any national nudist organizations because they sponsor a nude "strip show" type of event on one weekend in July and again in August. But,after "investigating" clubs, you'll find "little secrets" about all of them. Ponderosa's pool is large and very nice. You'll enjoy yourself there. Keep in mind that Ponderosa has a reputation for sexual swinging and other "loose" activities but you probably won't notice this while sitting around their pool. See their website at "ponderosasunclub.com". I might suggest that you look in to joining the Chicago Sun Club. This club offers winter functions, nude bowling and health club visits several times per month. Nice people. David77 - My wife and I tried the "Lake O' The Woods Club" once. It is really too far for us (we are in the western burbs). It probably took us 3 hours to get there when we visited (got caught in some heavy traffic). Also, there was a single weird guy visiting there that really made my wife uneasy. Consequently she did not get nude that visit (she did go topless on the hiking trails [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] ). Also, my wife has only been nude with me once in public (at Couples Ocho Rios in Jamaica [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] ). So, I am trying to find smaller venues with less people around until she is more comfortable.

Donbon - Thanks for the good info. I wanted to get some opinions on Woodlot before my wife and I go. To start things off slowly for her, I am looking for places where there are only a few other people and no pervs constantly watching over us (I am hoping this Woodlot owner is not one of them [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif[/img] ).

As far as the Indiana clubs go, they are really just too far to make special trips. And I think my wife is permanently turnd off to Lake O the Woods. However, we do visit Michiana Mich. (on boarder of Mich. and Indiana by Lake Michigan) on occasion. So, maybe we will visit some of those Indiana clubs.

My wife and I finally went Thursday!

And, we picked a good day - the hottest day in 2 years in the Chicago area.

The place is very rustic and a little run down, but it has its charms. The trees and vegetation are gorgeous. And, totally secluded - I could not even see any neighbor's houses. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img]

There were only 4 other people there - another couple, the owner (Gene Gall), and a male friend of the owner. The friend left shortly thereafter and we didn't even see the other couple until we were leaving.

My wife was nervous when we got there, so she kept her clothes on when we went to say hello to the owner down by the lake. Nice guy, older gentleman.

We went back up to the house and took a swim in the pool. We had it all to ourselves. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif[/img] The pool is nicely done, waterfall, rocks around the edge, and just the right depth. It's in a greenhouse, so it can be used year round. There is a huge grapevine growing inside the greenhouse with grapes on it!

We alternated a few times with nude sunbathing. (sunbathe, get too hot, cool off in pool, repeat)

One gripe about the facilities - the toilet is located behind a curtain and "smoky glass" panel off of the laundry room (we stood "guard" for each other). [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif[/img]

My wife thoroughly enjoyed herself and agreed that we could come back. [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] The lack of people really made her feel comfortable. And more importantly, nobody gawked. That really bothers her.

One thing that freaked out my wife - I saw this truck driving on the lawn straight towards us [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif[/img] , then pulled up next to us. It was the owner telling us he was going into town. But, he was nice and told us to stay as long as we wanted.

We didn't do much exploring of the property. Something to do next time.

I drove back home nude. My wife wore only a pareo. Life is good!
