    Anyone ever have one?

    Mine got really bad.
Had to have essentially emergency surgery.

After 2 weeks, still very painful for sitting.

My fiancee had to have hernia surgery this past summer. She recovered very quickly - it was only painful for two days after the surgery. By the end of the week she was out and about as usual.

I had one to get very bad and near rupture about two years ago now, it was repaired in the hospital and I was fine after a couple days, just had to not lift anything over 5 pounds for a month. I've got another, that has hung around for the last fifeteen years or so, with no pain and the doctor says its fine as long as its not bothering you, and he won't go in and repair it.

2 Weeks! I had hernia surgery 7 weeks ago and it took a good 5 weeks for the pain around the cut area to stop hurting. It is still numb. It was a huge hernia. The doctor said "one of the largest I have ever seen." I had another hernia 20 years ago and it healed quickly. It really depends on how large it is, how much invasion surgically, and your age. If you are under 50, it should be fine soon (unless you get an infection). I'm older, so it was a much bigger deal than I ever imagined!

Ow, NU, I imagine your pain.

I had both go on me at the same time, but as I was only 3 or 4 at the time (I was a very 'active' kid), I don't remember any pain or length of time it involved, although I am sure there was.
All I remember is the doctor throwing away one of my little toy soliders that somehow got into the open wound during one of the follow up visits and boy was I pissed.
I went and got it back, too.

If your surgery required that they actually cut you, then it will take several weeks to feel better. I was lucky, I had one on each side but the doctor was able to go in through my belly button. Modern Medicine!!!

I had a strangulated hernia, it was a good size. I was off my desk job for 3 weeks, then back with lifting restrictions. However, a week afetr surgery I was on a ladder painting my house!

By the way, it was being shaved for suregry that satrted me being a smoothie.
