Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten, but I see my computer didn't. It's already changed the time.

I see no real good purpose in changing the time back and forth just to make the day longer or whatever the reason.

You know, it doesn't actually make the day longer...

What it does is shift an hour of daylight from the early morning when most people are still at home and asleep to the evening when almost everyone is awake. Saves energy, makes the streets safer -or so goes the theory.

Except for nice hot summer days (of which we don't get many up here) I prefer night to day. So daylight savings is just an annoyance for me.

I think that was what I meant. No matter how we rearrange the hours, we can still get only 24 hours, unfortunately. Sometimes 24 hours is not nearly enough, and other times it's more than enough.

I didn't worry about it. I couldn't remember if it was fall back/ spring forward or fall forward and spring back so I figured I would wait to see what my computer said this morning and set everything then.

If the purpose it to move 1 hour of daylight to the evening from the morning, then why change it back in the fall??? Since this moves the hour of daylight back to the morning hours.

I think they should set the clocks one way or the other and just leave them alone after that. As far as people being awake in the evening and asleep during the early hours of the morning, that doesn't apply here. We are a twenty-four hour town. So alot of people work at night and sleep during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Because with the shorter days of late fall and early winter sunrise occurs later and later until it is still dark out during morning rush hour and when kids are waiting for the bus. Morning safety is more important than evening light. But in the summer we really don't need a 3am sunrise as opposed to 4am, and that extra hour in the evening allows more outdoor activities, more nude time in the sun after work and less power usage for lighting.

                            Just remember...

                            spring forward

                            fall back.

                            Real simple.

Most states of Australia have this system, but not Western Australia.

We've had about 3 referendums on it, but the "noes" narrowly win.

They used to say that the cows would not give milk, the hens would not lay, and the curtains would fade.

But in the last referendum, the truth came out.

The people who are against it, for the most part, reckon they won't be able to make their kids go to bed.

So, because some people can't control their own kids, we're all deprived of an extra hour of daylight, for healthy outdoor activities, in the evening.

At least we don't have to remember which way to move the clocks!
