• Use Hero Miles to Bring our Troops Home

As the holidays approach, I would like to ask that everyone who reads this BB remember our heros/veterans who are fighting over in another country with making a donation so they too can make it home for the holidays. And while many are gonna be able to make it into one of the 3 designated airports, the most expensive part of their coming home is gonna be paying for the airline ticket to the closest airport near their destination...and...that being able to spend the holidays with their families.

Included is the article that was posted on Koin.com 11-24-03.
Your Donation Can Bring Local Soldiers Home

PORTLAND -- In September 2003, the Pentagon started giving soldiers stationed in Iraq two-week leaves in the largest R & R program since the Vietnam War.
Soldiers on R & R or Emergency Leave are flown by the military to Germany or three airports in the United States: Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Dallas/FortWorth (DFW), or Atlanta, (ATL ) for free.
The soldiers have been responsible for flights the rest of the way in the U.S. to their destinations, until Congress provided funding for this purpose on November 3, 2003. However, this funding is not yet available and may not be sufficient for all the troops or troops on "Emergency Leave."
That is where you come in. You can donate your unused frequent flyer miles to the Department of Defense to help troops travel home and spend quality time with their loved ones, without worrying about how much it will cost.
More than 86 million miles have been donated by the airlines and travelers throughout the U.S.A.
Please click HERE to find out how you can donate.

So on behalf of these special individuals I would like to suggest that instead of buying that extra gift for someone on your holiday list or buying that 6 pack of whatever, or even that extra pack of cancer sticks, donate those funds to one of the many charities set up so they too can celebrate the holidays with their loved ones on this on this soil.

Happy Holidays from up here in the Pacific NW to All

That link was awesome. Yea, someone did put a lot of effort in that one. Let's not forget the service members during the holidays. Many of which will not be able to spend them with their families, especially those who are overseas. Nude or textile, those are a our sons and daughters over there. They do need our complete support.
