I had been a Laker fan for over 30 years. Yes....through good and bad times I watched every game I could, attended many during the year and even hated it when they left the Forum for the "Staples Center."

but after witnessing the antics of one Kobe Bryant.........and the trading of the best center we've had since Kareem.........I've not watched much Laker basketball.

So........I will cheer on our EX Center( Shaq) and his team and the best coach (Pat Riley) the Lakers ever had in those 30 years.

We're hell and gone from Miami but we will be cheering them on!

It's a toughy.

On the one hand, I'm a huge fan of Mark Cuban and the job he's done in making the Mavericks a championship-caliber team.

On the other, I've always been a Shaq fan (even though he beat my Pacers in the Finals in 2000) and am grateful the Heat did away with two teams I loathe - the Bulls (the most OVERRATED team ever, especially since they drafted a certain white-trash point guard who shall remain nameless) and the Pistons (shut up, Ras-WEED!)

If I were to pick right now, I say the Mavs in seven.

I agree with FireProf on the Lakers. They had a caliber team, mainly an all star team, with so many top names in the NBA. But, they did not play as a team. They were more of an 'ego' team. Speaking of Kobe, he is a very good palyer, but he doesn't share the glory with his team mates. You can't blame the coach, for Phil Jackson is as good as they come.

I have been a Laker fan since the days of Wilt Chamberlain. Through good times and bad, I supported them. But for the past several years, they traded many of the top names the NBA has to offer. Look where they are now, in Miami. I don't see how anybody is going to beat them, for they do have one of the best coaches in Pat Riley.

Prediction: Miami in six.
