  • Paris Hilton!

Hello everyone. Well, I had brought this subject up a while back upon hearing she was not going to be forced to serve her entire sentence for her D.U.I. conviction. Recently, she stated she didn't want any preferential treatment regarding this. Originally, she was sentenced to 45 days in jail. But then it got pushed to 23 days. Then early this morning, she was released about 2 or 3AM after only serving about 5 days or so. I guess this simply proves my point from my last post. Not too many celebrities have to worry about paying their debt to society when they break the law unless I am wrong here. As long as I have been around, this seems to always be the case. Any thoughts on this one?

I happen to see a quick news brief @ my work about it but didn't get to hear anything. What was the official reason for 5 days served? Was it state or county jail? Was it an overcrowded issue? Was it costing taxpayers too much money to house another convict?

The Paris Hilton ordeal has nothing to do with or related to nude recreation.

The topic thread is being moved from miscellaneous category to open conversation.

        Ordeal? Hers or ours?

Medical reasons? Huh? She had a visit from her shrink then she gets sent home for 40-days of house arrest....somebody in the sheriff's department came by a cabin at the lake and a nice retirement fund.

At home for forty-days...something biblical about that. In a perverted way it is justice; let her mom and family live with her for 40-days of home-confinement. Boy howdy, I'll bet by about day ten they'll wanna ship her bony *** back downtown.

Overcrowding was not an issue in this case. She was in a 2-person cell, and she was alone. Being released for 'medical' reasons is a lame excuse. The L.A. County Sheriff will receive a lot of flack over this, which he should. He went against the prosecuter and the judges ruling, in order to satisfy her.

In my opinion, the sheriff should be recalled. This is the same sheriff that has caused many celebrities NOT to serve any jail time (Mel Gibson, Tom Sizemore, just to name a few). Payoffs? Oh yea, I'm sure.

Rumors have it that the judge has ordered Paris back to court, and has also ordered the sheriff to court. Might be an interesting day after all.

The girl is poojie bound. Wanna bet a Krispie Kreme against last year's straw hat that her mysterious medical condition is bulimia?

Reminds me of a line from an old Ray Charles tune:

Baby, you can beat your head on the pavement and wail
Until that man comes to throw you in jail.

                  Hurray for the Judge!!

She's lucky I wasn't the judge. I would have added time for each attempt to fool the system into early release.
I would also point out to her that while in County Jail, if you need to see a doctor, you go escorted by deputies to the county clinic.

It's about time someone had the courage to stand up to the Sickening ways of the Wealthy.

She should be kept there untill she learns that she isn't any better than anyone else.

What amazes me is the attention focused on this non-event.
There are a lot more important matters happening in the world ... like pulling the weeds out of my front lawn for example!

The only interesting thing about the Paris, Hilton is the view of the Tower!

Now that she is back in jail, I personally think it's time that the Sheriff faces the Judge for contempt. I don't fault Paris for her early release. I fault the Sheriff, for he is the one that issued the order. True, she will get all the flack for being the "rich bi---" and was able to 'buy' her way out, or her parents did. But, oh well, they were able to buy only a days worth until justice stepped in.

Wow, this is better than a soap opera.

It became an event because of all of the other celebrities who have been let off with a slap on the wrist when the rest of us would be in real trouble. A lot of people want to see if this is going to be another case of preferential treatment.

Thank God we have Paris to distract us!

Otherwise we might be asking questions about the firing retirement of General Pace as Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff so soon after uttering words of non-enthusiam about the conduct of the Iraq War occupation. I listen to the gererals, then I fire them. heh heh heh.

Or about the sudden resignation decision not to seek reappointment as US Attorney for Arkansas by former Rove aid Tim Griffin (who was never confirmed by the Senate because of a secret codicil added to the Patriot Act II) - shortly after British press reports implicating him in illegal voter suppression using caging lists - exposed by 500 of the emails that the White House claims to have 'lost', but of which the BBC has copies.

Or the opening of a new front in the Iraq War Occupation between our Kurdish allies and our Turkish allies - without a clue as to which side we should be on.

Or the spectacle of our Commander in Chief (I'm the decider!) drinking (non alcoholic?) beer at the G8 conference, and then having to miss his morning appointments the next day due to a hangover stomach bug.

Or news that 26 Americans, presumed to be CIA agents, went on trial (in absentia) in Milan Italy today for the illegal kidnapping and transport (extraordinary rendition) of a terrorism suspect, who was sent to Egypt to be tortured.

Or the nomination of a new Surgeon General who has waged a 20 year campaign against homosexuality, and founded a reparation ministry that 'cures' gays.

Or about the Senate's plan to hold a Vote of No-Confidence in Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez on Monday.

Thank God for Paris, otherwise we might stop to wonder what kind of hell our nation is descending into.

We get the "REAL" issues all the time along with the trivial.
