Here's a thread for news of Iraq that doesn't "involve the U.S."

    1) Two of Vice President Mayson Ahmed Bakir al-Hashimi have been killed in the past two weeks: his brother on April 13th and his sister last night. He is a sunni and both deaths are abributed to shias.

    2) Austrailia suffered its first military death in Iraq and sent the soldier's body home for burial by his family ... but wait! ... they sent the wrong body back to the family.
Just one death and they send the wrong body? Maybe they should take cues from the US, after all they've had over 2000 times to practice getting it right!

It was a horrible thing to have happen. It's bad enough the family had to lose a loved one but rather hard to imagine how they could screw this one up since it is their first fatality.

I have had the duty of escorting home to the family the mortal remains of a U.S. serviceman. It was done with dignity and honor. At no time was the body ever unattended. I felt it was my duty to do this. I know first hand the cost of this war. I see it everyday in the faces of our brave young men and women. I just don't see much humor in the situation I guess. I must be getting old I don't seem to get the jokes anymore.

I want everyone to know that these are the finest group of young people our nation has. They are smart, energetic, selfless. They are, in my estimation, the best we have to offer. Of course I may be somewhat biased in my opinions.

Apparently, there was a mistake made at the Kuwait morgue where the body was kept before transport to Australia.

Which is why I think that the news should be reporting, and showing the caskets, on the men & women who have died over there. These are men & women who signed on the dotted line to protect their nation. No matter what anyone thinks about the war they should never forget that these soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice for us. This is why we shouold be honouring them, and not treating their deaths like something that should be hidden in the night.

Death isn't funny, but don't lose your sense of humour. Its what keeps us sane.

Hey I agree!I support the troops 100%. No matter what anyone feels about the war you should always support the troops. Supporting the troops does not mean supporting the war. My hat goes off to the men & women who signed on that line to serve their country.

Yes AL keep your sense of humor.

If it wasn't for that sense of humor in all of us, myself and a whole lot of others would have joined the 50,000 ... unfortunately too many did after we came back to the real world.
