....And we wonder why some areas have such problems finding good art life (nude) models....What will they do next? Declare the Sistine Chapel pure pornography and paint over it?

Students deserve to have excellent teachers like Hoover. It's a shame the board of education wants to deprive them of a quality teacher. I hope she not only keeps her job but retaliates with a civil suit that absolutely ruins the lives of those idiots on the board of education.

I find it kind of creepy that people in charge of running the schools, have these perverted feelings when viewing the human form in a non-sexual setting.

          These people are in charge.....scary

Of 8 comments about the photograph, 7 were positive for the teacher and the 8th was undecipherable gibberish. None were negative.

I think that the teacher used very poor judgement in posting photos of herself nude on the web, and expecially of her in a bondage pose. I think that her exuberance in showing herself, overtook her judgement about her keeping her job.

Her job should not be threated by art, even edgy art. Short of committing a felon what a teacher does off duty should be private. They should be judged by the classroom. It's a sad state of affairs if people have to limit their lives for fear of retribution by small minds on the job.

The sad thing about teaching in general today is that teachers have to be presented as living an almost saintly life. They are not allowed to live 'normal' lives as the rest of us do and must always be shown as pure and innocent. The reality is that teachers are just like the rest of us. However, if they get caught in their private lives doing what the rest of us do, then they pay a price that the rest of us won't.

I want to know where her union is on this issue.

I've found that teachers make up a sizable percentage of social nudists - presumedly because they are secure in their jobs due to civil service protections and union representation.

It's sad if totally BS 'morals' codes can bypass those protections.

Of course I occasionally harbor the illusion that we still live in a free country.

It is true that many social nudists are teachers. One reason may be that most teachers have the Summer off and so have time to go to beaches and clubs. I asked a nudist teacher friend of mine about protections. She said that there are no protections and if she is seen by any of her students at the nudist beach, then she could very well loose her job. It really stinks that the teachers could be fired for going to the nudist beach but no one would ever ask why the students went to the nudist beach in the first place.

True, teachers will usually have the summers off and can spend more time at naturist venues. I'd also like to point out that teachers tend to be socially progressive as well, maybe more so than the general public. In my opinion, social progressivism and naturist philosophy tend to complement each other.

In addition, this is an art teacher that's being talked about. I would think that, of all the members of a school's faculty that might embrace the naturist philosophy and/or an appreciation of the nude human form, it would be art teachers.

To punish this woman simply for depicting the human body in an artful way is a sad commentary on the American education system.

I can't afford that kind of trouble....

Then again, I wouldn't post a series of nude photos on Flickr....

I still think the school board is over-reacting. If they removed all teachers who had something worth "hiding" like marajuana use, a sexual escapade in the past, or nude photos....they'd probably lose half their teachers.

Her mistake was to take her art public....not wise, but then again, her partner posted them.

That's a good point. Half of the art books reflecting the Renaissance era have nude paintings in them. They are not sexual in nature at all and are not obscene either. Impressionism has similar paintings in many of their volumes. I think the standards of the older school are clashing with today's. And regarding models who pose nude for art classes, what will happen to them? This too is a good point. I think too many people are offended too easily these days.

Next thing you know you'll have to be a Catholic priest to be a teacher.
