Thank you for this thread. You made a good point that I was trying to figure out how to say on my own... You actually did it much better than I ever could.

Hmmm...? I didn't realize a person couldn't be "objectified" if they have clothes on, only when they are nude!

I know people tend to view celebrities differently, but they are just people, same as you 'n me - naked or clothed. My point is that if I drooled and went crazy over some celebrity, would they have to be naked to produce that effect. People go nuts over their celebrity idols all the time , without seeing them nude.
I do have some reservations against "paparazzi" photos that invade the privacy of celebs, or anyone else. Clothed or nude. Even most celebrity "news" - so called - that is none of anyone's business, such as fills the content of "ET" (Entertainment Tonight) and similar shows.

However, I think the intent of the celebrity nude photo gallery posted here was to remind us that our clothes-free inclinations are shared by those well-known persons shown, and others like them. Not to make objects of them.
Someone could just as easily "objectify" any nude person they see in the Photos of Freedom galleries on here, but that is not the intent of the galleries. It may be the intent of some viewers.

If a nude person is an "object" it is usually more the a fault or issue of the viewer rather than the nude person, the obvious exception being in the case of nude dancers who perform for pay. There is some knowledge on their part that the club patrons are viewing them as objects.

I don't think you have to be nude to be an "object". There are pictures that attempt to capture the essense of who someone is on the inside and then there are pictures that tend to try to capture what they are on the outside (ie. an object).

Celebrities make a life of being an object. So, one can find pleanty of pictures that reflect the celebrity as an object.

I just wanted to try to find pictures that at least attempt to capture or do capture something beyond the exterior. Beyond the outside body. Because, nude or not, we are all human.

As nudists, I think we should be fairly good at seeing beyond the superficial and recognizging the true essences of individuals. My personal opinion is we don't need nude pictures to accomplish that.

I added some shots by Armando Gallo, who seems to have very relaxed shoots, so much anyway to make the person feel comfortable and act naturally, not posing.

The name Armando Gallo rang a bell. In addition to photography, he wrote a biography about the group Genesis, as well as photographing them many times. I added one of them, taken in 1975.

What if that celeb concented to the nude photos because they felt that it reveals them as a person? They wanted to say to the world "Hey, I am this, a person like you, see me as I am, stripped of the fame and glory that you and the media has bestowed upon me.". Is it your opion that they can only do that with clothes on?

I think that is very possible. I think an image like that would belong in the "nude celebrity" post. I just feel like that post (more so people posting images to that post) seems to have a problem distinguising what those images are exactly.

No offense to the image you selected of Drew Barrymore. BUT, in my opinion, though I find those images of Drew Barrymore to be classy and artistic. I think their having come from Playboy taints or draws into question their original purpose. I mean, why couldn't she have posed for H&E? To me, that would have said even more about her...

Posing for Playboy doesn't exactly strip one of fame and glory...quite the contrary. It is the epitome of exhibitionism.

As I said in the other forum. There are a couple (minority) of images on there that I think capture what you speak of. So, yes it is possible. What upsets me is all the trash and misguided photographic essays that comes with those images.

I makes me wonder if everyone posting on there is a nudist or understands what nudism is about.

Many of the celebrities on here are nudists...

Some even appear in the Porn...I mean "Nude Celebrity" gallery.

....so, I don't get the move. It's nudist related and Miscellaneous if you ask me. This is not personally motivated is it?

Ok, no further questions your honor.

                              Fresh Air,

The clothed Celebrities album or comments has no mention of naturist, nudist, or even nude celebrities and very few names of celebrites who are posted, so its not related to a nudist, naturist or nude related category and reason it was moved to "Open Category" where one may post on any subject or topic as long as it stays within terms of service.
