A couple of days ago the story of probable effects of global warming was brought to our attention by the publication of data from the conference at the Meteorologic Office in Exeter last year. This shows data from the Antarctic survey on the Ross Ice Shelf and states that melting is ongoing and will cause a 16 feet increase in mean sea level.That is just one of the ice shelves,how much more will the others cause in addition and what effect on our and your low ground on coastlines and river valleys?

Hey weren't we talking about this 3 threads ago?
Global warming is occuring and what most don't see yet is that it always preceeds Global Cooling, i.e., ICE AGE folks.
We are overdue for an ice age by about say 5,000 years.
So maybe a few hundred years in the 'heatwave' and then thousands in the 'deepfreeze'...it's the cycle that has been repeated over and over.
While, I intend on being around for most of the 'heatwave' I don't think I will care about the 'deepfreeze' too much, now do you?Comment

Heaven forbid we don't start the Ice Age at this time. Because it will get too cold to enjoy the weather nude.

I actually made a shirt that says: "NUDISTS SUPPORT GLOBAL WARMING". I made another one for when I have to travel on a commercial airline, (which I avoid as much as possible), that says: NUDISTS HAVE LESS BAGGAGE. Works on many levels.
As for global warming, bring it on. I hate losing my all over tan in the winter months.Comment

The God of the airwaves, Rusgh Limbaugh was saying years ago that Global Warming is a farce.
It doesn't matter that every scientist around disagreed.

Yeah, but Rush was talking about the political opportunism that has hitched itself to the Global Warming bandwagon. Sure, it's better to listen to real scientists, but it's hard to know which ones are unduly influenced by their source of funding.Comment

The global warming went away in Austin today; I wish it would come back. Guess I will have to wait to next week. I heard reports that scientist say the sun has warmed a couple of degrees which could also cause the earth to heat up. Who's right.

The latest articles claim it has accelerated at a rate which is over 150% faster since '96.
I think the statement was to the effect of "90 times the amount of water used in LA in '96, to over 225 times that amount in '05.
And that report named 1 glacier in Greenland as the source for the info. 1 glacier's melt!Comment
