  • Jerry Rice

    He can't be old!
'Cause that would mean I am old!
I wanted to see him play for the Broncos at least one season!

I think "Instant Rice" left at the right time. He was #4 on the depth chart, and he know there was no way he was going to get much playing time. Nevertheless, he was the NFL's great wide receiver, his 20 years in the NFL were a true thrill to watch, and he will be missed.

I had the pleasure of watching him play also since he was with the Seahawks last season. He wasn't used as much as he should have been, but no one can play forever. I remember Steve Largent and a whole batch of others!

Jerry Rice combined talent with class.
I do not recall him doing the taunting and classless acts of some other receivers of today.

Maybe, Jerry could be a mentor to other receivers?
Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, et al could go to "class"?

Well said. Jerry Rice was truely a professional player. He did not taunt, but he did get excited (though rarely) when he scored. I agree, many of todays' players should learn from his demeaner.

Perhaps grace comes from age. Some of you might recall that Rice was a wee bit cocky his first couple of years in the league.

Yea, Stuart, that may be so, but he never displayed the antics that todays players show, Terrell Owens, just to name one. There are many more, but he never did get the headlines for making a 'cell phone' call in the end zone, sign autographs, during a game, demeaner the home team (football spin on the 50 yard line in Dallas).

Sure, he may have been a bit cocky, but never did he get fined for being a 'spectacle'.
