Since there has been so much discussion concerning the NYC World Trade Centers, I thought it appropriate to post a few photos of the current status of the reconstruction efforts. Photos taken on April 21, 2007.

these photos deserve the five star rate! thanks for updating us on the restoration. i hope in the future these structures will not be targeted like in the past. to this day they are still finding bone fratments of those who couragiously without warning gave thier lives.

We were in NY a couple of years ago - doesn't look much different to then

Is the building going "full steam ahead" ?

I recently heard that the area including several towers (office space, retail, and residential), there will also be a park with green space and a memorial, and of course the "Freedom Tower"

Claims have been made that it will all be complete bt the end of the decade.

There is a scale model of what the site will eventually look like including the Freedom Tower. After several plans, it looks like a plan has been approved. However, I am sure that there will continue to be adjustments to the plan as time goes on. In addition to the scale model, there is also a history of the original trade center towers as well as photos from 9-11. All of this is housed in the new One World Financial Center Building which is ajacent to this construction site. I will try to find a photo of these new buildings and post it here. There already appears to be a great deal of continuing new construction in and around this area with new office and apartment buildings. As some may remember, when the original towers were constructed, the excavation matierial ie dirt, rocks, etc were used as fill in the harbor to create Battery Park. I am not sure how much excavation material will be generated from the new construction or if it will be used as harbor fill to create addition construction space in the lower Manhattan area. It does appear as if a great deal more needs to be done and this construction project might not be finished for another 10 to 15 years.
