  • Paris Hilton

Hey everyone. Guess what? On the way here, I heard on the radio a story that I probably thought would happen. There was a brief news story that Paris Hilton could possibly get out of serving the entire 45-day jail sentence for her recent D.U.I. conviction. This was supposed to commence on June 5th, the day she is supposed to turn herself in. Now, here is my beef. It seems to me that celebrities always seem to avoid taking their punishment as well as accepting full responsibility for their actions when they commit either an infraction or crime. I guess it just goes to show you how being spoiled or silver-spoonish can tend to inject the belief that they indeed do not have to be held accountable like we would be forced to whether we like it or not. As is said, money talks! Any thoughts on this?

Yes this topic/thread is misplaced in a naturist forum so it’s being moved to Open Category, Open Conversation where you can talk about any subject.

I was once told, the only justice out there is the best lawyer you can hire. Honestly, is it really that shocking that a rich hotel heiress/celebrity MIGHT be getting away with doing jail time?

          Any thoughts on this?
Well, I have read several reports on this subject. One report says that Paris COULD serve less then half her time due to a CA state law which allows prisoners to be released early due to good behavior and also because of overcrowding in the prison and jail system. As a typical example, last year another 'star' Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating probation after drunk driving but was released after only serving a few hours in jail because of overcrowding.
Another report that I have read basically states that the sentence is cruel, mean, unjust, unfair, a waste of tax dollars, and deprives an adoring group of fans of their popular and loved socialite - Paris.

From the humor pages, about "Things I Have Learned"...

I have learned that you are responsible for your actions. Unless you are a celebrity.

Which tends to support my contention that humor and jokes are just a reflection of real life.

A brief news story on the radio?

Well, maybe, but it seems to me she's been sentenced and unless the governator intervenes she's gonna find her skanky bony butt in jail come June.

Just about anyone - of any stature and place in society -- tries to get out of having their licenses suspended or going to jail. Hilton, and people of her ilk, attempt to do that.

First of all, Hilton isn't facing jail time over her DUI conviction.

She's facing jail time because she was caught driving after a license revocation for that DUI conviction.

Fining her, or having her do community service will not stop her as effectively as 45 days in jail.

The argument "putting my client in jail will serve no purpose" (sometimes referred to derisively as "tiny tears") usually doesn't carry any merit. In fact, it will serve people well -

"You drive drunk in California, your license will be revoked. You drive after that, you'll go to jail and we don't care who you are."

Mmmhmmm. How far I can see the word celebrity branches out from celebrate, the person who permanently celebrates something. Boozer`s Paradise model - drunk from morning until evening late.

What You want from a brain what never had been learned to do anything useful? In the pedagogy exists a certain principle, the teacher ought to be finest example for his pupils, but if that is totally impossible, he ought to be at least awfuly dreadful example. Thus, the Paris personality is one quite peadagogic shape for us all, hopefuly being capable to learn from her.

You can tell she takes after her Mother by the antics she, her Mother, showed in the courtroom the day Paris was sentenced. Apparently they believe they are above the law.

Part of the job description of being a celebrity in California requires that you drive drunk, insult ethnic groups, or engage in other bad or illegal behavior to generate free publicity. Jail sentencing is optional for celebrities who engage in such behavior.

Paris will ultimately make millions from this publicity stunt. She will sell books, merchandise, and probably star in some so called reality tv show if or after she serves some jail time. Her many adoring fans will ensure that she has the last laugh and she will laugh - all the way to the bank.

Paris' Jail Stint Likely to Add Allure
                            By Sandy Cohen
                            Associated Press

LOS ANGELES -- Paris Hilton is so pampered she doesn't read her mail.

"I have people who do that for me," she told a judge.

Legal documents and traffic citations elude her.

"I just sign what people tell me to sign," she testified.

Facing a 45-day jail sentence and perhaps her first brush with accountability could be a reality check for Hilton. But regardless of how she handles it, it may make her more popular than ever.

"It will actually increase her star appeal in a very sick and demented way," said longtime publicist Michael Levine. "There's a segment of our society that's somehow engaged in the soap opera that is Paris Hilton, and this a very compelling plot line in the soap opera."

A judge ordered the socialite to report to a county jail in suburban L.A. by June 5 to serve 45 days for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. Her attorney has said he will appeal.

That only prolongs the publicity, said Roger Gillott, whose public relations firm, Gillott Communications, specializes in crisis management.

"If she wants to put this behind her and come off looking remorseful or repentant, then she should just serve her time as quietly as possible," he said. "The more she protests, the more she claims she was innocent and doesn't know what she's doing, that she never reads her legal papers, the more she portrays an image of someone who doesn't pay close attention and thinks they are above being held accountable."

The 26-year-old hotel heiress, who parlayed her party lifestyle into worldwide fame, told the judge Friday that she didn't have time to talk with her attorneys about her probation. That dismissive attitude is part of her appeal, said veteran publicist David Brokaw.

"The premise of her fame is being naughty," he said. "This is a career move for her. It simply fuels the fascination. She can only win with this."

Now everyone can run out and buy their "Free Paris Hilton" T-Shirts and further add to the Hilton fortune.
