  • A question

Hello once again! I know I pretty much come on this forum to issue holiday wishes to the entire forum. But I need to start coming on here more often and not just to address the holidays. I have a question in which I am hoping anyone here can help me with. Many times I have attempted to google topics regarding nudism and naturism. But too often, I end up getting literally pornographic images and/or subjects when I had no intention of retrieving such disgusting material. Why is it this happens when I google such innocent topics like nudist beaches and/or resorts or any issues regarding nudism for that matter? Is there any way that I can conduct a google search without encountering sexually explicit or pornographic images or material? Or should I possibly use a different search engine altogether? Is there a search engine available that nudists can use which will not retrieve pornography or sexually explicit material? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Wish I could help Ken, but it is a web-wide problem. I believe the unfortunate truth is that those that set filters in the search engine companies fail to comprehend this issue. And the relatively small number of nudists do not warrant any meaningful consideration.

Search engine websites (Google, Yahoo, Bing etc) do a process called web crawling or sending out electronic "spiders" or "bots" to websites on the internet. These pulses look for key words and phrases placed intentionally by webmasters in order to be listed on a search list. Although not all search engines look for exactly the same criteria, it is likely you will receive similar results. Perhaps a consideration would be to limit your search... being more specific... to what you are trying to find. Not sure if that would help or not, but worth a try

I've notice the same thing. I type in nudist/nudism/naturism etc. and porn sites come up. You have more luck typing naturism or naturist but still, there are links to porn sites. I think once you type "nude/naked", they are words all linked up i.e. nude = sex. The only way to avoid these sites is to simply not bring them up. There are some nudist sites, but yes, there is an abundance of porn sites available also.

Hello everyone. I want to thank you all for trying to assist me in this matter. But like nudeM said, it is true that once you type in the words nudist, naturist, nude or naked, they are somehow linked to porn sites or images. Quite frustrating indeed!

Ken, your best bet is to find the 10-20 sites you want to go to and bookmark them.... nude and naked extend much further than nudism or naturism, and some use those terms to attract visitors to their sites, even though their interpretation of "nudism" may not be OUR interpretation as to what it is.

Welcome to the Internet. A global network of computers and devices where all of mankind can gather and share porn.

...The trouble with computers is that they only know what you say, not what you mean... So as long as people say nude and mean porn, and even smart people like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart can't clearly define when nude turns into porn, the computers are going to remain confused...

Meantime, I like the CFI strategy of buying up as many of the misused "naturist" website names as possible to create some sort of better search path... In fact, I'd like to see NAC or somebody start suing people who misuse "naturist"...

I am with you 100% percent on this Adge! It is quite disgusting when I type in something specifically on the subject of either nudism or naturism and most or a lot of the responses or images that surface are of a pornographic or sexually explicit nature when I want nothing to do with that at all. I do hope the C.F.I. will indeed succeed in creating better search directions for us.
