Subject: Error message box and abrupt closing of IE7 upon exiting, Back Arrow, or on its own on various
Web pages when you click do or do not send Error to Microsoft.
I have been plagued by sudden IE7 closures, error box and messages saying MS Explorer ran into a problem and must close; do you want to send an error message to Microsoft. By saying no or yes IE closes and you loose all form or page information you were on & must re-start IE7. I experienced the same sometimes on IE back arrow or on random web pages without doing anything. Each intended closure of IE7 results in the error box notice, and immediate exiting when selecting either yes send or don’t send the error report to Microsoft.
I’m running Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack2), IE7 Ver. 7.0.5730.11, and Yahoo Messenger Version 8.1.0.209
I have run all sorts of virus, Trojan, worm, ad-ware, and anti-spy programs without avail and after hours and days finally found out what was causing my IE7 to be flakey, slow, and closing with error messages. YAHOO MESSENGER VERSION 8.1.0.209 WAS FOUND TO BE THE CULPURT re: Browser helper Object, Browser extensions, & the YahooTool Bar.
To solve the problem, Open IE7, go to Tools, to Manage Add-On’s, delete the following Yahoo Instant Messenger add-ons listed below [referenced to: yiesrvc.dll & yt.dll]
Yahoo IE services button Yahoo Inc. Type: Browser Helper Object re: yiesrvc.dll
Yahoo Services “ “ Browser Extensions re: yiesrvc.dll
Yahoo Toolbar “ Yahoo Tool Bar re: yt.dll
Yahoo Toolbar Helper “ Browser Helper Object re: yt.dll
I disabled the above add on’s, closed IE7 and upon re-launching IE7 all the erratic errors, closing, and IE7 problem reports to Microsoft ceased. IE7 become snappy again, steady and operated normally again.
With millions recently downloading and using IE7 and Yahoo Instant Messenger, I’m sure that everyone that is affected with this frustrating and dangerous loss of data and unexpected closure and error reporting of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 will be relieved to know of this relationship, identity, cause, and fix to a bug that’s been driving me crazy for days.
Please disseminate the relation, identification, and solution of this problem by me as soon as possible and as widely as possible to Customer service, TechNet, MSDN, Knowledge Base, and Microsoft User Groups on and off line. I would appreciate feedback, and acknowledgement, of this problem and solution. I would like to participate in further application engineering, beta testing, and problem solution with Microsoft products.
