What can yall tell me about Orient beach?

Any suggestions? I plan on staying on the French side.

I havent really seen any recent info about it. Nothing since about 2003 I think.

I can tell you quite a bit. What would you like to know? We have vacationed there every June for the last four years and are returning in June '07 for two weeks.

We stay at Club O and frequent some of the places on Orient Beach.

Are you looking for a clothing optional place to stay or someplace else? There are more nude/clothing optional beaches on the french side, better restaurants but they both have their ups and downsides.

Let me know what your are looking for or what questions you have.

We'll be heading back to Club Orient just after Thanksgiving -our 7th trip to St. Martin. Definitely suggest dining in Grand Case at least once or twice, as the food is great. Baywatch on Orient Beach serves terrific food for lunch and Andy & Cheryl are wonderful people. The day trip to Tintamarre from Club Orient to Tiko Tiko is a favorite of ours as well. Any other questions, feel free to ask & we'll see if we can come up with some good answers.

A really helpful site is www.traveltalkonline.com; lots of info about the Caribbean, and they have a dedicated forum on St. Martin and another on nude vacations. You will find more info on SMX than you can possibly use.

. . . and, I agree with James. Grand Case has some of the best food in the Caribbean. Do not miss l'Alabama or Auberge Gourmande. Definitely worth putting on clothes.

never been to St Martin. I dont wanna go for a full nude resort, just clothing optional beaches and someplace nice for snorkling (or nude snokling). Renting a wave runner is also in my plans. I also dont wanna dish out a ton of money for lodging. I need to research that part too.

I plan on flying in on Dec 28 and fly back out on Jan 2 that is IF American Airlines has flights going there and and flying out on those dates.

Orient Beach offers most of what you are looking for. Club Orient is not a "nude" resort, it's technically clothing optional, although 95%+ there are nude. At any rate, you'll find there are various other accomodations that may fit into your budget and clothing ,or lack of, preferences.

Waverunner rentals are plenty on Orient Beach. I can think of at least 5-6 places that rent them. You can take it over to Green Cay, which is a small island off St. Martin. We've not ventured over there yet but plan to this next year. We've heard that there is some nice snorkling there and you can rent and ride the waverunners nude and snorkle nude over there as well.

There is some snorkling over on the Club Orient section of Orient Beach. Many of those we've talked to snorkle the reef that protects Orient Bay. I've done some snorkling out by the swim platforms off Club Orient but haven't ventured any further out then that.

We took the Tiko Tiko nude cruise over to Tintimarre and I snorkled there as well. Once you get passed the highly snorkled area off the main beach and venture toward either end, you can see lots more. I would not recommend you chance taking a waverunner to Tintimarre. I am certain they will not allow that.

Hope you're able to make it and AA flight schedule accomodates your needs.

                    Have a look at:
                    http://www.orientbeach.com/

There is lots of information and a forum dedicated to St. Martin in general and Orient Beach in particular.

off the top of your head, or thru expereince, can anyone offer a name for a relatively lower priced but still nice hotel on OB?

It's been about 20 years since we were on St. Martin. When there, we took a sailboard ride to St. Barts. Hiked from the pier over to a little beach not far away where there was a single naked female on the beach. I went naked there, too.

Of course, Orient Beach probably has enough nudes on it to satisfy now. When we were there, there was practically no one there.

I wish I could help you with some recommendations but we only stay at Club Orient. We visit this resort because of it's clothing optional policy throughout the resort. We don't like the restrictions to nudity at many other hotels on Orient Beach. As far as I know, Club Orient is the only clothing optional resort on Orient Beach. A few others allow topless sunbathing or nude sunbathing with the permission of your neighbors.

What range of price per night are you looking for? Club Orient has some studio units that are very reasonable during certain times of the year.

You can check their website for prices. Be advised that their prices are in Euro's and the price in dollars fluctuates with the exchange rate.

Any pools? My wife likes the beach, but prefers to swim in a pool... Go figure.

Could have sworn I saw a pool in a Club O ad - perhaps one of the villas.

There's only one small pool at Club O. It is in the rear yard of the "Villa" which Club O rents out for around $700 a night. The Villa was the owner's private residence until they sold to the management partner's that currently own Club O. The new management decided to refurbish this home and rent it out. It does sleep several people so you could share it or have it for yourself if the price a night doesn't scare you away!

Other than that, a swimming pool at Club O is just "talk" right now.
