Looking for places to be myself(nude) by Springfield, Mass. I am a single male and know that some places dont allow or restrict the number of single men allowed. I am looking for swimming holes, campgrounds, or places that nudity is allowed.

Hi James...
Well fortuanatly for you you live close to Solair (check out their website here) just drop down to Woodstock Ct.
Solair is an awsome place. My family and I go there and there is always something going on. They are single friendly, but you will have to talk with the membership committee, and plan your first visit on a weekend.
Berkshire Vista in Hancock Mass. is also a great place and certainly single friendly ( see website here)
The Ledges in Vermont is a public area and an acceptable nudist swimming area.
Any qusestions just ask
Have fun!

James,
I lived in Westfield before the commercial Internet was created, but I have read reports of nude use up by the Dam in Huntington. Here is a report I found on the web.quote:Knightville Dam
Directions:
From the intersection of US Rt 20 and 112 in Huntington, Mass,
take 112 north for 4 miles, past Knightville's 1st entry on the
right; cross a long narrow bridge high above the river and go up
the long hill and cross a small cement bridge. After the bridge,
go right on the marked access road; don't enter the new private
driveway. Go down to the valley floor, turn left, upriver, and
go for 0.8 mi. Cross the brook on the small cement bridge and
continue upstream to the end. The main pool is on the right,
with prominent paths leading to it, just before the first gate.
Rating:
Potentially 5 Moons
Report:
Knightville Dam Flood Control Area, Huntington, Mass. has
extremely high potential for naturist use. It's been going on
sparsely since the mid 50's at least that we know of. Whether
this area becomes highly popular will depend on Naturists'
behavior; be on your best if you go. Park well off the road.
Leave no litter; take out any you find. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL,
if any inappropriate behavior of any kind is seen, do what it
takes to stop it. The Army Corps of Engineers oversees
Knightville, knows about the nudity, and will probably continue
to accept it, even if it occurs in large numbers, but we know
several of these people personally. We can guarantee if people
go there and decide to be sexual in public that the tow trucks
will come THAT DAY (= a "make up the rules as they go along"
situation and basically those in charge can do anything they
want, and do) and the place will be lost forever just like so
many others.
Knightville, closed during time of high water (several times a
year or not at all, depending on the rains), is a 12 mile long
wilderness area, a nature lover's paradise; all manner of flora
and fauna can be viewed there, including the American Bald
Eagle. Nudity is OK upriver of the small bridge; we take off our
clothes there.
We can't stress enough that though nude use at Knightville has
been well established for over 40 years, littering or
inappropriate behavior will quickly bring closure of this area.
Do your part and we'll have this 12 mile Naturist's paradise to
bequeath to our children.
Just in case someone tells you that Chesterfield Gorge, Ireland
St. Chesterfield, Mass, is a good place to go skinnydipping, we
want to say that no matter who tells you, forget it; no natural
sunning/swimming occurs there, and you may be arrested. The
gorge is now owned by a private foundation which, in its wisdom,
prohibits swimming even with suits on. In any case, poor
alignment to the sun made this spot marginal. As a geological
phenomenon, the gorge is worth seeing, which must be done with
clothes on. A parking fee is charged on weekends when a ranger
is present to enforce the swimming ban. Downriver from the gorge
since ownership by the private foundation ends where the gorge
ends, nudity is quite possible, since the area is so remote and
there are miles of sunning rocks, but pools are few and far
between. This river, the East Branch of the Westfield River,
flows through Chesterfield Gorge then into Knightville Flood
Control Area, a burgeoning Naturist's paradise.

I visited Solair once. Ironically, I grew up in Woodstock, but didn't get to visit until I moved to Maine. I originally emailed them and told them I was planning on visiting on the weekend. Unfortunately, my plans changed and I had to wait until the weekday. When I arrived, they were understanding and pleasant. I went through the registration process and was given the tour. One other guy also arrived while I was registering, so we toured together. Before we sat on the golf cart, it was suggested the we would probably fit in better if we undressed. There was no pressure, just a suggestion. After the tour, we were free to be on our own. I enjoyed the beach and pool areas, as well as discussion with a number of people. One thing we were supposed to do, which I forgot (okay neglected), was to speak with the guy in the yellow hat (membership committee member) and have him sign my prospective membership card. By the time I left, the office was closed and the guy was gone. I haven't been able to return due to time and cost restriants (and at these gas prices, it doesn't look good in the near future). So, I spend my time at Ketchum, and post on this forum. It isn't the same, but it is the best I can do for now. Maine doesn't have any nudist resorts or campgrounds (since Yorktown turned into a swinger's club) and the Maine Coast Solar Bares only meet once a month way down south. So, for now I will continue to be the Mayor (and constable/medical provider) of Ketchum. Stop by if you are in my neck of the woods. If I am not there, I am probably at work paying the bills.

The world of nudism, or naturism, can go FAR beyond sitting naked at a keyboard. If you never have tried nude recreation - or social nudism - you're missing out on some fantastic life experiences. TRY IT SOMETIME. Contact your local groups. You'll wonder why you didn't do so sooner.

does Solair membership committee decide when a single male can visit Solair nudist camp/resort ?
Jason,
Many cooperative clubs here in the U.S., - that is, clubs owned by their members, may require that you join after a certain number of visits. Usually three.
The reason? These clubs may welcome day visitors from other clubs and those holding membership in one (major) national organization or another, but they do not expect someone local to come in and visit only when the weather's warm.
Many of clubs offer "associate memberships" -- for instance, after three visits, you pay a nominal fee, plus join AANR through that club, and day visits are available to these members at a reduced rate.
I am not a member of Solair, but it's my understanding that they offer associate memberships.
I have (single) friends who are members of Solair, and they hold associate memberships and can go anytime they like.
The only restriction that I know of with Solair, and this is for singles of either sex, is that they want them to make their first visit on a weekend, not during the week.

Don't forget the Eastern Naturist Gathering in Lenox in June! No singles restrictions there, either.
