  • need a hot spring this summer

    hi all

We are trying to plan a short summer vacation which involves nudism and nature. We would love to soak in hot springs and maybe do some LIGHT hiking. If it is near a park with rollercoasters, my older son will be happy. We found a place called "Valley view hotsprings" in Orient Land Trust, in Colorado. It seems perfect, but you have to make a large $$ donation in order to guarantee a reservation. We are looking for something in the west/midwest where we can fly in and rent a car. I like to camp, but it would be too much work to bring our camping gear. So a bed and breakfast, naturist or state or national park with cabins, etc. are all good. I can't wait to hear some suggestions....

I would highly reccomend Harbin Hotsprings near Napa Valley California. It was a turn of the century spa that has been turned into a Co-operative endeaver by it's members. It has a very newage feel to it. From what I can tell it isn't that expensive to stay there for a weekend or longer. The entire grounds are clothing optional and they have many different things to do including massage and mudbathes hiking yoga etc.

I am a life long member of Harbin and it is deffinately a great place to be for the the naturist. However, after a few days for the kids, there isn't much for them to do. However, if you were to stay in Napa Valley, you could go to Great America in San Jose which is about two hours out of the Valley and it's only about 1 hr from Santa Rosa where the museum of Charles Swartz (Charlie Brown) is located. Tie all these things together and what a vacation.

Well, there are a bunch of hot springs just to the east of Mammoth which is in the middle of it's ski season now still very nice in summer and it is just on the back side of Yosemite. You could stay in a lodge while in Yosemite and do something similar while out east in Mammoth and then take a side trip out to the outpourings though I would advise buying a guidebook to hot springs if you were to do this as they are all undeveloped on public property and you might need a high ground clearance vehicle as you will have to drive on unimproved roads though four wheel drive is usually not needed in the summer.

In Colorado, try Orvis Hot Springs in Ridgway, Strawberry Park in Steamboat Springs, Dakota Hot Springs and Desert Reef in Penrose. All are clothing optional at some time, if not all the time. Orvis and Strawberry Park are my favorite. Strawberry is C/O after dark only.

Dude... Harbin HS... Look into it. It's not very far from Six Flags Marine world in Vallejo (north side of San Pablo Bay). I'm going to guess that it's somewhere around 1 1/2 to 2 hours between Vallejo and Harbin.

Also, don't rule out resorts near major cities with large amusement parks....

There is a bunch of hotsprings located in Idaho, And I know it's Idaho but I think there is a park with rides in Boise? There are great hidden, must hike to hotsprings in Idaho. There is whitewater rafting, wilderness camping, small hotels in great areas for freehiking.

I can't say enough about Idaho, so few people and such huge area of wilderness. There are a lot of great hot springs there, just wanted to reply.

                    Peace
