My wife and I had our first experance on a nude beach this past week-end, call us new-beees. While we have been home nudist for a long time with boating, swims, (Gulf of Mexico) ect. we only last year experanced social nudity, in local clubs/resorts. That said I just wanted to comment that It was wonderful to experance the open Atlantic beach nude.
I would like to say it seems a shame that the national parks system makes no visable effort to make the nudist area of the beach accessable to the number of nudist that show-up. While my wife and I were able to park, due to handycap permit, on the two days we visited there were a number of vehicles that had to turn-around due to the very limited parking. The nudist area is beyond the last parking lot of the park. The next lot is over a mile away and the rangers know the last lot fills up first almost every day.
But I guess we nudist can't complain because we don't want the beach closed and everyone knows nudist do not pay taxes.

The park has said they don't want more people in the park.... that the most important reason there is a park is to protect the wildlife and the natural topography.

Cyndiann is correct. Apollo Beach has a fragile row of dunes protecting a vast wetland. The beach itself is a nesting area for sea turtles.
It is an incredibly beautiful but delicate place. I am fortunate to have spent a day there.

We do need additional land for nude recreation in that part of the Atlantic shore.
I hope that nudists will demand additional beach space, perhaps a bit north in the New Smyrna area or maybe north of Daytona. It would be great if there were a Central Florida counterpart to Haulover, an area with plenty of parking and lodging, and a wide enough strand to permit outdoor sports.

We will need the goodwill of merchants, innkeepers and local politicians as well. I wish nude bathing were a nationally guaranteed right, one that could not be abbridged by local governments, but we are not there yet.

Went to Apollo Beach July 2002. It was my first time to try social nudity, however when I arrived and removed my clothes I felt so relaxed and stress free. I will be going back there this year. I also hope to get down to Haulover Beach in Mid July.

One other thought -- why not try Playalinda - at south end - seems co tolerant if not legal and there is more parking.
