• Red Rock Beach

I've been to Red Rock three times. Twice nude, once clothed with a textile female friend. I still haven't had a chance to really get in the mix, though.

For anyone that's been there: How's it been?

I just checked the official web site and still no updates since June. I really want to go back. I've had this cantankerous urge to go again. There's something about being nude and knowing that other people can see you that just makes you feel like there's really nothing that bad that you have to worry about. (Losing ones clothes in front of other people is like about the worst thing that could happen to many people.)

Edit: Oh my goodness! I can't believe all the typos I made!

I was at Red Rock in late Sept. It was a glorius weather day.. 80s right at the waters edge. I had a great time even though i'm not into socializing.Crowd was mostly male but there were couples and some children. The scenery was gorgeous as always. For me weather can make all the difference... Look for a day when the weatherman is predicting an offshore flow wind pattern. There are still some possible nice days this fall. Outdoorbare, is it too late in the year for a visit to Red Rock Beach? A pale-faced Alaskan wants to know if he can get his tan back now or will he have to wait until next spring... Thinking of taking a few days off from college classes to rest and recreate...au natural.

I actually went today.Inland was a beautiful warm sunny day ...in the 70s. But at the coast the fog bank was right at the shoreline. I hiked the trail to the beach and soon after I arrived...about 2;00 pm the fog retreated and the sun shown brightly.I was able to spend 2hrs of my birthday in my birthday suit. I think Nov thru March is questionable for No Ca beaches once the winter pattern sets in .Large waves from storms erode the sand and sunny days become a rarity .Large waves were doing there thing at Redrock yesterday. Snoboy ...If you're plannig some naturist [email protected] ,Florida or Hawaii would probably be a better bet.It is another gorgeous clear sunny day in inland No Ca today .....mid 70s. To Outdoorbare:

My wife and I a planning a trip up to SF after the first of the year for about a week. We were wondering if you could give us some beaches, or places to visit while we are on vacation at this time. Our plan is to visit South towards Half Moon Bay and North in Napa. Any info you have would be appreciated.

Ever been to Baker Beach in SF? Went there one day while the wife was attending a seminar. It was way to cold for sunbathing. Went looking for it and found it. Also saw numerous others headed in that direction from the parking lot. No nude sunbathers this day, just wondering what type of crowd goes there and if there is a gawker problem.

              Thanks,

I'm not Outdoorbare, but maybe I can offer a suggestion.

Anywhere in Northern California is going to by iffy for outdoor nude recreation in January. There might be some days that warm enough, but probably the odds are against you.

You might consider Laguna del Sol, south of Sacramento. Depending on traffic and where you're starting from, it's 2 or 21/2 hours from SF.

The inland valley does get some bright sunshine and reasonable warm weather sometimes in January. However, Laguna del Sol has a nice motel-type unit with indoor pool and spa, so you can be certain on getting some nude recreation.

FireProf...I agree with Luvnaturism...Days for outdoor naturist pursuits are rare Nov to April in No Ca.and the water is cold year around. Ive only been to Baker Beach a couple of times and the scenic views are spectacular...You can walk all the way to the base of the GGBridge A warm sunny day( not to common any time of year )will bring out a large crowd...of a cross section of SFs population ..naturists, gay cruisers, gawkers, textiles etc.Grey Whale Cove is another very scenic CO Beach just south of SF on Highway 1.

Thanks for the information. We are planning to visit Laguna Del Sol on our trip. Sounds like we will have to play, the beach visits, by ear.

Again thanks to both of you that responded.

Those who've never been to this famous beach in San Francisco may not be aware of its unique location.

As Outdoorbare pointed out, it extends to nearly under the Golden Gate Bridge. If you know where to look (and traffic is slow) you can see it from the bridge. There is no better view to be had of the bridge than from this choice location.

We're talking about an excellent sandy beach in a major park in a major US city right in or near a major tourist area. The beach is long, perhaps a half mile or so. The western end, which has the easiest access, is textile. The eastern end is clothing optional. Outdoorbare is right: the c/o end of the beach is used by an amazing assortment of people.

The main drawback is that the ocean never warms up enough to be comfortable for most people. Nevertheless, it's a great place for enjoying a sunny afternoon.
