Is this the best nudist resort in the US? We think so but then we own a condominium only fifteen miles north of it which we rent out to fellow naturists! See us at www.mason-web.me.uk

Well, it wasn't the best in the US last week when the Love Bugs were swarming (http://www.floridaenvironment.com/programs/fe00508.htm)

The don't bite , but they can cover everything by 1pm in the afternoon. I think next time we'll go at a different time.

Overall, Cypress Cove rates as one of our best expereinces in the US, but we still prefer Mountain Air Ranch.

Please elaborate - What are "love bugs" and what season do they occur?

Love Bugs are small jet black fly-like insects with an orange spot on their backs. They're called "love bugs" because every year they swarm by the millions to mate. When one encounters them (and you will in FL), it's usually a mating pair.

They're a nuisance mainly because they get splattered all over just about everyone's car windshields and frontends and their tar-like remains are very difficult to remove, at times damaging the trim & paint.

I went on an interstate road trip not long ago and by the time I reached my destination I could barely see out of my vehicle to drive

Thanks for info and excellent photo (by the way are they mating end to end?)

My other question is What season are they common in Florida?

I went to Cypress Cove this year and they were all over the place.

I was at Cypress in May, spring. Love bugs are definitly around central FL in Spring.

They swarm in May and September

And yes they mate end-to-end and fly that way also.

I was in Ontario in mid-August -- this was around 22 years ago -- and my Ford Econoline was COVERED -- I needed gasoline to clean the windshield, a high power hose to clean them off the front of the car -- and it took the paint off. And my radiator was plugged with bugs.

This picture you are showing is nothing compared to what I drove through....

                            OK,,

We've been to the Tampa area resorts in Oct several times and have never experienced this situation. We're going to Cypress Cove this year and looking forward to it.

Should we change our plans because of the bugs, or is it a non-issue??

                            Thanks

We were at Cypress Cove two weeks ago and the love bugs drove us buggy and we left early. The problem seems to go away in October. We will be returning for the nude art festival on Oct. 21. We were there last year for the festival and no problem.
