• Turtle Lake Resort Continues Under New Ownership

    Very Good News

Reports are that the deal was closed on Tuesday transfering ownership of Turtle Lake Resort in Union City, Michigan to an investor group headed by Midwest Sunbathing Association President Mark Hammond.

Mark has been running TLR for most of the past year as acting general manager while the park was under receivership. Regular visitors and members can testify about the turnaround in the park this past year even though the interim management was working with a shoestring budget.

This is great news for friends of TLR and for Midwestern nudism.

TLR has been very accepting of singles in the past, and I hope that won't change. They have a lot of homes and trailers for sale there. I still want to move there in the future if they'll let me, although I don't know when that will be. I noticed this year that they added the words "gender balance" to their Web site, and I'm quite sure that wasn't there before. That will more easily enable them to refuse any singles they don't want there.

That hasn't changed in the last 2 years. No one I've spoken with there can recall anyone being turned away due to 'balance' issues. I suspect that statement has been in their rules 'just in case', but hasn't been enforced.

Well, I certainly hope nothing changes for the worse, and that TLR remains as friendly and accepting as it's been. I met one man there who seemed to be in charge of the Halloween party, and he was very friendly. I have no idea if he was one of the owners or just someone who worked there.

I'm glad to see that TLR will stay open. I don't get up there as much as I'd like because it's 70 miles away. I've been to the last two 5K's and had a great time, and a few other Saturdays in the summer. It's a great resort.

              Hi Mel,

I'm not getting my hopes up any more since my plans have ended up in the toilet, but I still hope to be living at Turtle lake Resort in the near future. How near is anyone's guess. Hopefully before I'm too old and feeble to care.
