  • Berkshire Vista (MA) to Close At the End of the 2022 Season

Ginny Bookstein, owner of Berkshire Vista Resort in Western Massachusetts has announced its closure at the end of the 2022 season (early Oct 2022).

As most of you should know, longtime owner Dan Bookstein, her husband, passed in Dec. 2021 after a long bout with congestive heart failure and other ailments. By agreement, one of Dan's last wishes was to give the membership one more year at the resort and give folks plenty of time to arrange to relocate. So 2022 will operate as a testimonial to Danny. It is my understanding a buyer is already in the loop to remodel into a "family campground." Ginny sites her reasons below in a letter that has been posted to their direct email list this date, and will be mailed out to site holders by postal mail. This statement will appear at their web site within the next 1-2 days

    Dear Members,

Welcome back! Our Official Opening Day will be May 1, but if our water test results are back on time and clean (no bacteria), we will open the last Friday in April, April 29. This will be a Memorial Season, Honoring owner Dan Bookstein. One of his final wishes was to offer to you our members, a final season to enjoy clothing optional camping at Berkshire Vista, even though he is not here. There will be a Memorial Service Remembering Dan on Saturday May 14, at the side of the Pond, weather permitting, or in the Clubhouse, with a complimentary luncheon to follow. You are invited to attend, and I hope to see you there, and of course at camp all season long!

As the now-sole owner and stockholder of Berkshire Vista, I am acutely aware at age 80, that I cannot continue to operate BVR indefinitely. I am experiencing difficulty making decisions, memory loss, and missing deadlines and due dates, all critical to operating BVR successfully. It is time for me to retire, and the 2022 Summer Season will be our final season, ending on Columbus Day, 12 noon, October 10, 2022.

I am truly sorry that it will inconvenience you, but Dan and I have each given you nearly 30 years, 1994 – 2022, of our lives. It is time for me to retire. By giving you this advance notice, we hope to avoid the difficulty some of you experienced when Juniper Woods closed abruptly last April.

Please return for one last season of Good Food, Good Fun, Good Music and Good Times! There will be no Winter Storage this year, and you will need to remove your trailer no later than October 10. If you are a site holder member your bill for the Season Site and Membership will be sent as usual. If you have already paid, Thank you.

    Sincerely,
    Ginny Bookstein, President
