Stupendous - what kind of camera and film were you using?

Thanks for the comments,i used just an everyday 35mm camera and just off the shelf black and white film. Its seems to do the job well.

Thanks, natureisone! It is always nice to be reminded of the power of B&W film and a simple 35mm camera. With today's digital technology, we forget how powerful one can be with film and the 35mm camera. Good job!

I think these are pretty good.

The only thing I would suggest is having the models smile whenever possible, as your first picture is artistic but the second and third look like someone sleeping or (possibly) a crime scene that has been stumbled upon.

Keep trying and I am sure you will come up with even better ideas! Including objects with more curves like rocks and boulders often balances the model, or using a tree or trees as props to support the model or "frame in" the picture could help.

I have seen some photos that appeared deceptively simple but which probably took a couple of hours to set up. Furthermore I have read and heard it usually takes 6 to 10 shots in order to produce one really GREAT picture.

The models expression and the use of the surrounding environment as more than a backdrop require constant imagination. A little collaboration between the photographer and model may help produce the best images.

Nice photos. Was the sand really as smooth as it looks in the 2nd photo?

Every place that I have been, the sand is a lot coarser than that looks. I wish that I could find a sandy beach with sand that looks that clean and fine grained.
