• Clear out the old

I recently visited the member's page which listed all 6400+ members. Sadly, many of them seemed to register and never visited again (at least they didn't post). Would it be possible to "clear" out some of the non participating members to be better able to contact those still active? It can get rather time consuming to go through so many names and is frustrating to know that the large percentage came and went.

Just a thought.

I personally wouldn't want my name deleted without notice, and that could take forever, just for the shear fact that many may have lost the address, moved, no computer anymore, forgot it existed, etc.
I can see your question but....

I know what you mean. I check it out the other day. I wonder how many are not members anymore? I was a member at My Nude Life and asked to be removed as a member due to personal differences with the owner and I seen tonight that my name is still on the members list. That is probably why they still have alot of members. Once you are on the list you can't get off. If the ones who haven't been there for six months were removed the membership would decline. OK, start throwing mud.. ..Cheers..NoodJuggler

Occasionally I notice a really appropriate comment from someone who is a long-time member, but who has posted very rarely, in all that time.
It's a bit hard to judge a situation, without knowing all the facts, and what a person chooses to do, in their own time, is almost entirely their own business.
I have a lot of reference type books, which get taken down from the shelf only on rare occasions, but when I do need them, they're invaluable.
Maybe some people treat the forum like that.

My wife (nudemommy) is a member of these boards but rarely posts. She usually reads the boards under my log in, but uses her login when she wants to post. If we were to delete people who rarely post, then she would lose that ability to share her opinion separately from me. I know what a pain it is to sort out the dead accounts or even cut back on non active lurkers, but for people like my wife, this would be unfair. So I would have to say "no" to this proposition at this time.

I have not posted anything ifor a while. I've been pretty busy latly. But I don't want to be removed. I normally don't post something unless I feel I have something valuable to add. Most of the time I just read what others post.

It's kind of neat to look at the members page every now and then. Sometimes there are names who have not posted for a while but still read the forums. I like to look at the list to see if there are other nudists around my area, some who are still with us. As for the postings, there are older members who will occaisionally pop up every now and then with a comment or two, then drift off into the sunset, until the next time. Another feature I like is the occupations of some of the members. I have seen members who have the same interests that I have.

Every now and then, I will glance at the list, just to pass the time. I also notice, there are members who have posted under other names, but for some reason, the old name was accidently dropped, so a new name was given to them.

Just my thoughts.

Hello again..At most Forums, to keep your account active all you have to do is show up once in awhile. You don't have to post. I was a charter member, now just a member at a Trainsim forum and in order to keep that membership I had to login within a certain period. I also use Netscape and their email but in order to keep that email I have to use it every thirty day or I will lose it. With so many using the internet things are a changing. Cheers..NoodJuggler

I think its cool that there are so many members participating on this site. But for someone to lose their privledges because they don't post often enough would be truly unfair.I post when a topic interests me or just to blow off steam. This forum was created with Freedom in mind and to ban the quiet people is totaly against what this forum stands for.

A better solution would be the ability to search members by how recent they have been at the site. Nobody needs to be deleted that way and you know you are searching among recent participants.

Thank you all for your posts. I agree with what Cyndiann wrote. My real intention is to get in touch with other nudists in my area and when I see someone who hasnt posted since 2002, I wonder if they are still around. Sure some visit without posting and they should not be excluded because of that. In fact, they are the very same people that I want to meet. It would be great if there was a way to see who is still visiting even if they aren't posting.

Another option is to have an email option on here, just a little envelope to click on in their posts or profiles to send someone mail without giving away email addresses. That way you can contact someone that doesn't visit here anymore.

The way it is set up now you can't contact anyone except through PMs.

I know these options are possible because my messageboard has them.

I'm not sure I understand all of the concern about how often anybody posts to this forum. Is there a problem with running out of space on a server or something technical like that?

Speaking for myself, I am the type of person who generally listens more than speaks during conversations. I am the same way when it comes to posting on forums. I read alot, but rarely post a comment. I would hate to be removed from this forum for my lack of postings. I think you will find there is a fairly large number of folks who fall into that category.

It's like they say..We don't care how you do it up north. If I want to let someone contact me they can ask for my email address or go to my website and get it. Also if they want to get in touch with me they can Yahoo me or ICQ me. That is the way it should be, not being able to contact me except thru PM's..Also they are not talking about just posting. I don't think a person should just be removed but don't you think that a person could visit here at least once a year? What about those who sign up and then change their minds and are not planning on coming back? Maybe sending them an email letting them know that their registration is expiring or something? How about doing an archive and then the person could automaticaly be reinstalled when they visit the next time? Anyway..Cheers

I would like to see a system where everyone who posts on INA's forum is paid a small honorarium, say $10 for every post. That would be a positive move to encourage people to contribute, but those who would simply like to read the posts would be under no pressure to post.

To make this system fair, INA should retroactively pay all the people who have posted. $10 per post is a very modest fee for some of the fine editorials I have seen here. I have made roughly 1,700 posts for the two years or so that I have participated in this forum. My INA back pay comes to a very modest $8,500 per year. INA is getting a bargain. No journalist should be expected to live on such a modest salary, but that's all I am asking, 10 bucks per post!
