  • INA's new name and vision.

ClothesFree.com is now a corporation as of January 1, 2006.

Along with this, we have changed our name from The International Naturists Association (INA) to ClothesFree International, Inc. We are also known as ClothesFree, Inc., ClothesFree.com, ClothesFree TV, CFTV and CFI. We have opened offices in southern California as well as northern California.

The new name and graphics will take effect in a few days.

There are many reasons for the name change. First, it goes along with the web address: ClothesFree.com. We are first and foremost a video production company that produces a weekly show about nudist events, news and happenings all over the world for nudists by nudists. Plus, we noticed there was confusion with the name being so close to The International Naturist Federation, located in Belgium. We are concentrating on what we do best, and that is our photographic, internet and video production skills. Through this media we will both entertain and educate the public about wholesome naturism.

Some people don't like being labeled.

Just like a person who periodically works in their garden might not want to be labeled a "gardener", the words "Clothes Free" doesn't label the person as does the word "nudist" or “naturist”. "Clothes Free" is catching on as the new friendly replacement to "nudist". Many resorts are now calling themselves clothes free resorts instead of nudist resorts. The words "Clothes Free" points at the clothes that are gone, instead of pointing at, or labeling the person.

As always, we fully support and belong to great organizations like the Naturist Society, the American Association for Nude Recreation, Federation of Canadian Naturists, and the International Naturist Federation.

Along with the name change we are looking at the future of nudism.

A poll on cheef.com shows most nudists think swingers and others seeking sex is the biggest threat to nudism. We have seen nudism attacked a lot lately. For instance, Virginia's House Bill 158 passed banning nudist camps for teens. Naturally California's battle with anti-nudist activist James Hartline caused some of their great events to be cancelled. Congressman Mark Foley attacked nudism because he believed nudity is about sex and allowing teens to run around naked will only inflame passions. He would rather they be covered up and ashamed of their bodies than to have a way to learn to be comfortable with who they and others are.

When nudism is attacked, the fear of sexual activity is usually the reason. Why give the enemies of nudism any more fuel to fight us? If the "nude equals sex" idea is the biggest threat, shouldn’t we not allow swinger and sexual activities of any kind at family nudist resorts and beaches? The only kind of nudism that will catch on with the average family or middle America isn't sexual at all. Nudists enjoy sexuality as much as anyone but should we cater to those who would sexualize nudism? It might make more money for some clubs but it can destroy us starting at the very core of our philosophy.

In order for nudism to really grow and gain acceptance in the long run, we need to keep it wholesome at all costs.

Some say adults deserve the right to have places for "adult" activities. But should this be at the expense of nudist families and be at family nudist resorts? When sexual activity of any kind happens at a nude beach or a resort, the public eye uses that to attack us. By allowing sexual activities, the public will think it is an "adults only" thing, when in fact; it is a safe, wholesome atmosphere for the whole family that allows everyone learns respect and have more self esteem.

We need to tackle another problem that seems to come from within. We need to stay united. It is necessary that we keep strong in numbers. We all may not agree on every nudist philosophy but we must not let that divide us. Friction among ourselves will hurt us all in gaining respect and credibility with the population at large. So let's all unite. Please help, not harp. Our society is obsessed with hiding the "indecent" body. Together we can fight that. It is such a worthy cause.

    Thank you for your support!!

Cool! I love the new name Corky!

"ClothesFree International" is a bit easier to say than "International Naturist Association", and is a bit more catchier to boot.

The message about wholesomeness and unity is also very important.

Congrats on the name change. Also, excellent points you I like the idea of using "Clothesfree" instead of the other words, gives the right idea right away, now we need to find equivalent words in other languages (i'll be thinking today about the spanish version).

On the sex thing, i think this society is being pushed too far into prudishness, which if the trend continues will even take us all back into victorian levels of it, only being broken by the media to sell stuff. We should tackle the nudity taboo, keeping it nonsexual and wholesome, but i do believe that going too far is bad too (read the article "Body acceptance?" in the articles section of the website for example, i happen to agree), we need to be careful of having balance here.

On the unity thing, i completely agree. I'm thinking naturism needs a leader, somebody who'll unite the highly heterogeneous naturist community and take it to a new level on society. The only problem is that such leaders usually have to pay a high price. Look for example at the naked rambler in UK, he spends a lot of time in prison. And he's lucky he hasn't been face to face with prudishness extremists and received a beating or worse. And who believes so much in clothesfreedom (i like the word) to risk his freedom, family, career and even physical integrity in order to raise it to the status it deserves? At the very least i envision it to be looked at like vegetarianism, which at the very worst elicits a response of "yeah, yeah, i know i should do it and i respect the ones who do it, but i don't think i could do it", and in a best-case scenario to get to the point for example where is socially acceptable (even if unusual) that somebody decides out of ideological reasons that he/she won't wear a stitch of clothing ever again in their life, and it being pretty much OK. And that kind of social change cannot be achieved without leaders (and maybe if things go to the worse, even martyrs). Who'd do that? I personally can't even if i really truly wanted to do it, because i'm in South America (which mostly copies USA, but the influence is one-sided, we don't influence you guys at all, at most i'd have to influence my own country), it needs to be an apple-pie eating flag-waving USA-born citizen the one who does this, nobody else will have the credibility. This is in fact pretty much a politics game i think.

                    Your thoughts people?

Great Idea, Corky. Behind you 100%. I am one of those individuals that is slow to change ( not against new ideas, just slow). But I whole heartedly am for this change for all the reasons you mention.

Wish all the CFI crew the best fot this year and beyond.

Good point -- eliminate the confusion, go forward.

One thing you might want to do -- internet radio....

I have never been one to think that changing the name of something does very much to change actual attitudes toward it. I do, however, think that your point about moving away from "naturist" or "nudist" to "clothesfree" may allow for the development of a more positive reaction to nudism. I have surprised myself because of your suggestion!

I have read the rest of your statements, and can only say that all of this should go a long, long way in making CFI a more outstanding organization and a real leader in the cultural shift to clothesfree acceptance.

                            Really good job!
