New "New Since Last Visit"

Am I correct the ClothesFreeForums has changed the "New Since Last Visit" functionality so that it is much more tuned in to when the last visit exactly was? Personally, I prefered it the way it was before as I find it too easy to miss new posts if I accidentally close the browser or hit "Back" too often.

Another idea would be to open topics in a new window, rather than the same window as new post listing.
