• Reaching out? Advice needed

I was wondering if anyone had the problem of turning private naturism into a social lifestyle - in that how did you get into social naturism and establish new naturist friendships? My main concern is that I am unsure as to the extent to which one can trust the naturist clubs advertised over the net, as well as the web acquantainces one makes... Is it wise to merely head down to a social nude event or meet up with a fellow web naturist?

I had no problem at all going from being a "closet nudist" to social nudist. One place in my home city rejected me though because of my being single. The main problem is finding some place that will accept a single male. If you have a woman to take with you, you won't have any problem. The unreasonable "logic" among nudists is that a man isn't trustworthy if he's alone, but he is if he has a woman with him. Some places do accept single males.

I see that you are located in Sinapore. I could not advise you on naturists clubs/resorts in Asia, just as I could not advise anyone on the club/resorts in Europe, as I have never been to any on either continent. Of course, I am not aware of which of the advertisements you indicate that you have read. I am assuming, from what I have heard, that Singapore does not allow nudist resorts or clubs. Is that true? I hope you can get some reliable information so that you will have only good experience, where ever.

If you consider going to some naturist beaches in Australia, there are some Australians on this board who could advise you.

There are many naturist resorts and clubs in the USA and Canada and if they are affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation, they must meet high standards to continue to be accredited. These have a very high probability of being very trustworthy. Of course, there is the occasional "bad apple" among the participants, but not often, in my opinion. If you have a resort in mind which is located in the USA or Canada, please let us know it's name, as some of us "natives" can tell you about it before you attend.

European "natives" could possibly inform you about a particular resort/club/park in western Europe, at least.

Hope you enjoy your first visit to a naturist venue.

As far as the UK and mainland Europe is concerned I have not heard of any naturist clubs which advertise on the internet which are not genuine naturist clubs.

If you want to be sure about any resort then either ask here or go to one of the usenet newsgroups uk.rec.naturist (for European venues) or rec.nude (for elsewhere).

You might have to find a naturist travel club in Singapore or be the founder of one if none currently exists.

I have started a local travel club and I get a certain percentage of applicants who want a place for sex. I politely turn them down.

If you stumble upon a club that calls itself naturist, but discover that it really exists for sexual purposes, you can simply leave. We all make mistakes, but there shouldn't be any consequences for simply telling them, "it's not what I am looking for" and walking away.

Most naturist groups are not about sex at all. They are just a social and recreational outlet for people who don't see the need for wearing clothes at all times.

              Hi,

Thanks for the advice - actually, I am currently in the UK. The laws against nudity are even stricter in Singapore than in the UK, and it is here (UK) that I am considering being a social naturist. Any specific advice on the culture of naturism in the UK, or general advice about checking out clubs/resorts/other naturists would be welcome.

Once again, thanks for the advice so far!

                Hi Rollerblader,

No doubt about it, the best internet resource for the UK is The Naturist UK Factfile (NUFF) . Also look at the British Naturism web site which has links to UK clubs.

If you're single/solo you'll find some clubs have a restrictive singles policy and it would probably be helpful if you were to join British Naturism which is affiliated to the INF. This is also useful if you travel to mainland Europe, especially France.

Most venues in the UK are private clubs although there are one or two commercial operations. If you don't want to get into the club scene (and many UK naturists don't want to!) most of the clubs organize swims which may be a better option. Look at the map section of the NUFF site to see what's available where.

If you fancy nude walking/hiking take a look at The Singles Outdoor Club web site. The organize walks mostly in the south of England.

                Hope this helps.
