I doubt that testicle glands shrink.

The penis appears to shrink and move upward, for warmth in a cold environment.

Instead, I believe that testicles in scrotum simply rise upward close to the body cavity for warmth.

I suspect that when his testicles warmed up and decended, they fell through the cracks of the chair bottom, causing him anxiety and discomfort when he tried to pull them out.

When you sit a certain way on thin slats of a lounge chair, the distance of the space between slats can shift, widen. This probably happened, and his testicles slipped through the space, and when he shifted his body position the space closed up again, capturing his testicles.
