• Is Female Nudity More Accepted Then Male Nudity?

This is just my opinion, not based on any hard evidence I have. Based on everything I read and see on tv and talk shows, "outside of the nudist community" I think female nudity is more accepted. Ok for example, if a man were to walk down a busy street butt naked he would probably be arrested within 3mins. In most cases he would be called all kinds of names and probably accused of being a sick perverted freak. But if a women were to walk down the street butt naked, do you think she would be arrested anytime fast? The male cops would probably just stare and maybe even flirt with her. I dont know how true talk shows are but I have seen shows where women walk naked in public, go shopping naked and hardly anyone even flinches.

Is it just me or do other people feel the same way. I am just saying it as I see it and I hope I dont offend anyone with my opinion as that wasnt my intention. I am just curious as to what people think about this!

I agree, I don't understand why.

Men are warriors, the aggressive ones, potential threats.

Women are soft, nurturers, loving and non-threatening.

i personally haven't seen any naked (nude) women out in public except in a nudest setting.
if you will tell me where their are i would like to see the reaction of the public in general.

Here's a relevant piece of art trivia: During the late 19th century in France, women painters were barred from academic art classes! Also at that time, "nude" came to mean "female nude." Fortunately the French Impressionists of that time numbered at least one woman, and an American at that: Mary Cassatt.

This implies that female nudity was accepted in art in much the same way it seems more accepted on the streets today. And this despite a plethora of male nudes by Renaissance artists, particularly Michelangelo, many of which were probably in the Louvre.

Ooooh, but Michelangelo was a known homosexual. Maybe latent homophobia is the cause?

Good topic. I would say this phenomenom was due to the fact that our society is still male dominated.

There was a time when male nudity was OK. The ancient Greek atheletes use to train and compete in the nude. Also, ancient Egyptians had little problem with nudity. Heck, there are still cultures today that don't think much about male or female nudity.

I do think that if a guy walks around nude, he is viewed as a perv., and exhibitionists, out to get something, or whatever. Women are not looked upon with any more respect, but it does seem to be tolerated more. Maybe because our society is still male dominated you think? I don't know. . .

Well, I'd have to concur with Steevo on this one,...... I agree with you, but don't understand it. I've thought about this much myself. There appears to be more male nudist than female, however in general female nudity seems to be more acceptable (to the greater majority anyway). I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll never understand human behavior.

Its true and I see others agree with me on the fact that female nudity is more accepted. I guess its because like someone else said guys are considerd aggresive and females are considerd peacefull and loving. I personally think this sucks for guys because only a very seclect few are jerks and 99% of us are innocent people hurt by a sterotype image. Maybe one day things will change!

Several people have mentioned the male-dominance theme, but no one has commented on it. On first blush it would seem that, given male dominance, masculine nudity would be more accepted; but as described, the reverse is the case.

A possible answer is found in Piers Anthony's Apprentice Adept book series. In these books, a future society is described in which two classes exist: Citizens and Serfs. Citizens control all the money and have all the power and privileges, including the right to wear clothes; Serfs are bound to one Citizen until they are traded or fired, and they do not have the right to wear clothes or any other rights unless the Citizen grants them. So in that fictional society, clothes represent power. Hmm...How many times have your textile friends talked about their "power suit" or "power clothes"? Even in the real world, certain kinds of clothes definitely represent authority: a policeperson's blues, a judge's robes, a priest's collar...

Possible placard: ELIMINATE CLASS WARFARE! GET NUDE!

I think that the female would get arrested just as quickly as her male counterpart, but the public reaction wouldn't be so vitriolic. This can be witnessed in the reaction of statutory rape reactions.

When a man has sex with a 12-year-old girl, society is up in arms, no matter how the girl felt. There isn't even a discussion of how much she was "in love" with the man.

But reverse the roles and a woman has sex with a 12-year-old boy, the same people are less upset. Heck, Jay Leno even makes jokes about whenever a teacher has sex with her student. And look at the most publicized case in Seattle when the sixth grade teacher (can't recall her name) had sex with her former student who was at the time, 12. There was a public reaction, but not as bad as if it were a man/girl. In fact, she was given a light sentence, which was only made serious when she violated her parole conditions and met with him again to rape him again. Much was made in this case with how much he was in love with her.

Because females, as NakedinFlorida mentioned, are considered more peaceful and men more aggressive, there is a double standard when it comes to things men do vs. women.

Bob,

I couldn't agree with you more...and I lived in Seattle at the time all this crap was taking place with this so called teacher and her student were getting it on

There were a lot of us who felt like she got off to lightly...had she been a male, she would have gotten a much tougher sentence as she deserved

I also think if they removed the gender from these cases of where adults are having sex with minors...everyone would be treated more fairly...just goes to show how much we females can get away with with a few tears

Guess if one is a female, crime does have some advantages over you guys committing the same...

Just for fun, Guys, go out and get a bikini swimsuit and walk down your favorite "Clothed" beach or public swimming pool.

I have had some interesting experiences while wearing a Male Bikini to public beaches and the like.

I have been pointed at and joked at and even whistled at buy young guy's and girls alike.
I don't understand why a girl sitting on a beach wearing a String Bikini or Thong would be so embarrassed seeing a guy wearing the same type of clothing that she would laugh and point and call her friends attention to it.
One woman was so concerned about what I was wearing one time, that she even called the police. I have no Idea who the woman was, but the police had to respond. Once they saw I wasn't doing anything wrong they simply said have a nice day and went along their way.

It's all about Double standards and Peer Pressure.
Somewhere in America someone decided to make fun of someone that wasn't dressed the way he thought he should be. So rather than standing up for himself he just conformed to avoid future ridicule.

Living in a small town of only 5,000 people I get teased every now and then because My shorts arn't long enough or I go shirtless in the front yard. But I never hear complaints about women that wear shorter shorts than I do.

I just tell people to wear what they want and I'll wear what I want. Sometimes I even tell them that they are lucky I put the shorts on at all. That usually quiets them down for a little while.

Steve

We have my 15 year old grandson for the weekend while his parents are on a mini-vacation. They dropped him off Fri. night after supper & he came in and got naked ASAP. He and I (both naked as usual) were reading this thread and he said,"Look at me grampa & youll see why female nudists are more accepted." I looked up from the computer & there he stood with an intense erection. At his age he gets them a lot & no one cares or says anything. His reasoning is that the male genitilia is really not too atractive and people do not like seeing erections & that's why female nudity is more acceptable.

I don't know if I agree with him, but I think he made an interesting point.
