Kiwi, is the Chinese culture as restrictive and centralized as it seems to a casual visitor? If so, it must be very difficult to cope.
I wish you well, and your family. Maybe when you all move to NZ...

Good Luck, Kiwi
I understand your situation. I'm a European living in Taiwan, married to a Taiwanese wife. She studied in Germany, so she's relatively open. Once visiting Holland together, I took her to a nude free beach. While she would never take her clothes off in public - Asian women are afraid of drawing stares, especially on a beach full of whites - she now understands why I like naturism. She does not oppose my going nude, but wouldn't do it herself.
Taiwan has many naturists, mostly people who studied overseas, in the States, but there is just no space and no mentality to have nude leisure accepted at large here. Not for the time being, anyway.

I live in China now and will so for another two years. I got married here and the weather is very hot for 9 months the year, being naked at home is a must.......for me only.
When we first got together I found out that my future stepson had never seen his mother naked and when we had a shower session on a very hot night their discomfort was very obvious. That was 3 years ago when he was a child, now he is a teenager and the opportunity is lost as my wife refused to be naked with him.She brought up the weirdest excuses.
I know why of course, it is the Chinese way.
We have an extended family, two more young women who live with us, cousins of my wife.
So there are the 5 of us, on a boiling hot day, the aircon roaring away and just coping, me being naked and comfy and the others sweating and itching......They acept my nudity but will not follow suit.
At these times I feel a right idiot and frustrated that I cannot even get my wife out of her clothes when we are just as a family of three.
In two years my time will be up and we three go to NZ. I wonder how they will react when I take them to a club or nude resort.
For me nudity at home is precious, it is a freedom that I can have. There is so much less of other comforts here, so I stick to it, even when I feel a right loony for being naked among clothed people.
And a naturist club or a nude beach in China?
In a 100 years maybe.
