  • Nude kAYAKING

My Brother, son and I got to go Kayaking yesterday on a local large creek and I got to row the whole thing nude. I loved it. Had a great day. All were cool with my being nude, but did'nt join in, but I did let 'em know my suit dried out quick, when it got wet, Ha!

Nude Kayaking is easy with a traditional "sit in" kayak, even when in very public areas. A spray skirt covers everything of course, but a towel or cloth in your lap is perfectly sufficient even without the skirt. I often kayak with just a shear bandana folded into a triangle to go in my lap when needed.

Be a little harder with the sit on top kayaks.

They don't make kayaks for former football plaers so I have to do my "kayaking" in an old fashioned open canoe ... nude is always best.

Been down some wild whitewater in my ol'canoe and several times as I get off the river after a run I've been told "You can't shoot these rapids in a canoe!", to which I have responded, "Damn, I wish you'd told me that at the put in and I wouldn't have just shot those rapids to get here, I could have just drove my truck down river and I wouldn't be all wet!"

Actually ... they DO make kayaks for those of us with more ample girth and beam. I paddle in an old Keowee - a nice wide inexpensive beginners kayak. I don't think they are made anymore, but there are thousands of them out there for sale.

Hey Bama, good to hear that your brother and son are both ok with being around you nude. Maybe one day they will give it a try.

I have 2 Perception sit on top models that are fairly stable and accomodating to people of any size. I know the whitewater kayakers probably thumb their nose at us "sit on tops" but being able to take the sit on tops from the intercoastal waterway out to the ocean and then playing in the surf with them makes them way more versitile than either sea kayaks or whitewater kayaks.

I dunno fellas, I kinda like my ol'canoe, never could get the hang of "sitting" instead of "kneeling"

I quess I'll hafta try one of dem sit-on-top types o' kayaks one of these here days.

I have to agree with Nacktman. Being in a kayak, at least the usual kind that you sit in rather than on, is like wearing 50 pounds of rigid clothing. I'm a canoe guy, but I hardly ever kneel in a canoe, basically only if there's whitewater. There it's a question of lowering your center of gravity, extending your potential reach and being able to use your knees to control the angle of the boat. Otherwise sitting is way more comfortable! But hey, Nacktman can do it his way and I'll paddle my own canoe, as the saying goes.

Does everyone know about the excellent naturist canoe club, the Paddling Bares? They mostly operate in New Jersey, but they've gone as far afield as the Everglades and the Canadian border.

Last year I got a group together to do a trip in Maine and we had a great time. One of the guys is pestering me for another trip this year, and I'm willing--anyone else?

You mean there's something besides Whitewater?
Here all this time I could have been 'sitting' and leisurely paddling along!
Dang it all! There's more to life than I thought, I guess.

I don't know how many times I've heard this too.

Ha, Ha, Nacktman. I have rowwed down some rivers and creeks that made me think of Deliverence, though. Even run up on a few old cabins along the way that looked like they really had some wild ,good ole boys living in them still stuck in those days of moonshining and rebel pride.
Actually, you'd be suprised at how much whitewater I have taken my sit-on-top through, I give that thing hell sometimes, sometimes it kicks me out, too though.I do like it for its versatility of being able to use it in the mild rapids on the creeks, down lazy rivers or out in the surf and ocean touring. And it never fills with water, that stays there. the water drains right back out the holes in the bottom.
