This I would guess could be a branch off of embarressing stories.
I used to work at a hotel in the Detroit metro airport and could tell you many, many stories of people getting locked outside of their rooms nude (mostly people getting ice, real quick, but returning to a locked door),caught swimming or love making nude at night at the pool, etc, etc.
HOW ABOUT YOU? Got any good stories?

I guess the most embarrassing story "I" have (but didn't involve me) was once a HONEYMOON couple called down for their comp-champagne to be delivered. So I had nothing going on so I was there in a matter of minutes. I knock on the door and heard a bit of cursing behind the door. Turns out that the couple started on their 'family making' early and I was there a bit earlier then they hoped. So the guy answers the door in "ALL" HIS GLORY. Being a guy also, I fully understood and apologized for the interruption and dropped it off at THE nearest shelf. He signed and left a hefty tip to boot. I really felt bad but it was a shared smile between us.

Hi Steve,
I used to stay in hotels at least twice a week with my big union job (they closed the doors) and I only got caught once.

I was staying at a hotel that surely didn't have room service (if you know what I mean) and check out time was 1:00pm. I was done with what I was doing at ten thirty and returned to the hotel for a nap. I stripped to sleep, and was climbing under the covers when a maid knocked on the door. I said just a minute, but she didn't hear me, I guess. She stormed in cart first and there I stood. It was really funny to see her reaction, since I just said "Hi". She actually stared me up and down, like she had never seen a naked man before, and then she turned her head and said she was sorry. Personally, I think she had always wanted/hoped she would see something like that, but I never asked. I imagine there are alot of "locker room" stories amongst the maids. I put a towel on and opened the door. She was moving away from the room and I told her I was leaving at 12:30. She said she was sorry again and I told her no big deal. She smiled and I went to sleep.

My hotel story occurred in Paris. I was on a business trip and was staying in local hotel away from the tourist areas. It was a Sat. morning and I had slept in late. I woke up and headed for the shower. When I came out of the shower, the maid was straightening up the room. She smiled at me, looked me over and returned to her work. I walked over to my luggage and got some underwear. In the mirror I could see her turn and watch me get dressed. Some locals said that this was common and the maid would only leave if I had asked.

I may have posted this story before, but would have been a while ago, so here it is again.

I was staying at a small, funky motel in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was an old, wood two-storey building on a heavily landscaped property, almost a jungle. A very attractive central area for reception, and bar/breakfast cafe.

I was staying in one of the second-floor rooms at the end of one wing of the motel. I had to do some work on my laptop (computer that is) and it was hot, with no air conditioning.

Because the walkway outside my room was a dead end (no stairs down), I decided that it would be OK to work nude while leaving the door open for ventilation through the room.

While I was working away, the maid walked in without my hearing her coming. She saw me sitting there naked and, without a word, walked backwards out the door.

I was very embarrassed and didn't want her to get the wrong impression, so I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked out of the room to find her. She was standing by her cart. I apologized and explained that I am a nudist. She immediately brightened and said that she was also a nudist.

I said that it was OK for her to come in and make up the room and asked if she would mind if I remained nude. She said that would be OK and I could tell that she meant it.

She came into the room and I dispensed with the towel. Rather than making it up immediately, she started chatting about the joys of being nude. We had a good discussion for about 15 minutes, and she told me about some good places to be nude in the area.

What started out as an embarrasssing experience ended up as a rewarding one for both of us.

I have been seen nude by many hotel maids, I have never had any negative remarks made about my nudity nor have I ever made any attempts to cover up, I just get out of her way and let her do her job, if she wants to chit chat thats ok too but for Heavens sake please tip them for cleaning up after you. I was on my honeymoon in Canada, we went into the room and I in my hurried state, left the key in the door, the next day the maid either got a very unusual surprise, or has been there before, she bought the key to night table and locked the door on her way out.

I have been the front desk manager for two different hotel chains, and for the most part, nude stories among the maids is pretty common--though if they ever complain, most hotels are required to take action (don't ask me what that means--the rules were very contradictory), but probably the funniest story was one when a young couple (early twenties if they were a day) thought it would be fun to streak to the hot tub for some "fun"...it was nearly three AM, so it was no problem...except for when they realized they had neither towels OR room key cards to get back to their room! I was working that night at the front desk, so I guess the guy figured it would be better for him to come dripping into my lobby, fully naked, to ask for a new key, rather than send his young fiancee! Of course, I gave him my most disapproving scowl, explaining hotel rules about the hot tub being closed after 10PM, but after he left, trying to hide his penis with the small room key card I made for him, I had to laugh out loud! I don't think he and his girlfriend tried that move any time soon!

I remember staying at a hotel in Southern California many years ago, when I was sun bathing in the nude on the balcony. It felt great. The only problem was when I received a phone call from the lobby. I wasn't expecting any phone calls, especially since I was an out of town traveler. The receptionist asked me to please get off the balcony. I didn't know if they wanted me off for the balcony was off limits, or because I was nude. Anyhow, I left the balcony, but the way the sun was located, I was still able to enjoy it from inside the room.

If the front desk called, it's because someone called down to complain about your nekkidness on the balcony. Like I said, hotels are required to take action--but what that action is depends on the manager/clerk at the time.

Why is it that the DO NOT DISTRUB signs are for everyone "EXCEPT" the maids??? I've put these d_mn things out but to NO avail. I've even chained the door and sure enough the door was opened up, still chained but still opened all the same. I think if I make my OWN large sign up and tape it to the door with the hotel furniture proped in front of the door I might be able to relax.

If I was in a hotel with a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my door, and the maid walked in anyway, I wouln't worry about it myself. The sign would be there for THEIR comfort, not mine.

I've read in these about women who ACT embarrassed, but they make sure they get a GOOD look anyway! She certainly wouldn't embarrass me.

Have you considered trying a better class of hotel? Are you sure you weren't in one that rents by the hour? Seriously, I've spent a lot of nights in hotels, and have never had a maid walk in when the sign was out. If it ever did happen, I wouldn't be embarrassed, but I'd definitely be annoyed. The whole purpose of putting that sign is to be left alone.

Yes, I've had maids walk in when the sign was NOT out. Sometimes they knock and enter before you can answer. No big deal for either of us.

Everyone has a good point, I have had the do not disturb sign up and had the door opened. I have not had the sign uop and have had the maid walk all the way into my room. I have case in particular at a hotel in San Diego where she never knocked, opened the door and walked in. She then saw me nude laying on the bed and appologized and stood there and talked to me for about a minute, never once making eye contact with me. She was checking out my unit...

They do have a tough job and make no money. Lets appreciate their service nonetheless. If they want to sneak a peak, well, that is a perk of being a hotel maid.

Read all these and had to try it. Went to the ice machine with just a sweatshirt on at a hotel in Las Vegas this past week. No problems. My wife just laughed at my adventurousness.

NO problems with the maids this stay, but have had simular "walk in unannounced" other times. Never caught nude yet. Wouldn't bother me if they did anyway.
