I am a little new to nudism...I have been going to a nude beach for a little (few months) My question is.. Do many males experience erections in nude settings? Is it offensive if it is innocent and not a result of leud conduct?

Generally I don't do polls, but I started to make an exception for yours. Then I realized that you failed to provide the best answer to your second question: "Naturists understand that erections can happen, but its best to put a towel over it or go in the water until it goes away."

This is perhaps the most common question that men new to naturism have. Therefore it's been asked and answered scores of times in these forums. If you use the forum's search feature, you'll turn up lots of comments on your questions.

And yes, it happened to me the first couple of times I went to a nude beach. After that never again. My guess is that if you keep going, your problem will eventually disappear.

Luvnaturism, I have to agree with you 100%. The first couple of times I went sans textiles in a public setting I had a propencity to get some wood but after that it was no longer a problem. I do not believe an erection is a bad thing, it's part of who I am as a man, however, I would never allow that to cause discomfort for others. That is why it is always advisable to carry a towel when strolling about. A simple breeze can cause it to raise the flag and the towel is an easy way to address the "unexpected." This topic keeps "popping up" (sorry, I couldn't resist that one). Erections happen to every man at one time or another, and they're nothing to be ashamed of or embarassed about. I did vote "inappropriate" but only for lack of a better descriptive option. It's not appropriate to openly flaunt or parade an erection. While it is a natural occurance, it's just a matter of being polite to make an effort to conceal it from view. I know that some feel that as a naturist, you shouldn't feel the need to hide this normal, and very natural function. However innocent the circumstances that bring on an erection maybe, keep in mind that others will not know what is in your head at the time and to them, you may appear to be a voyeaur or pervert and as such they might be offended. Simply making an effort to cover an ill timed occurance shows your intentions not to offend anyone. Just like any other social setting, it's just a matter of using good manners. If you're in a secluded area alone, then it's your call. Let's all try to enjoy ourselves and help those around us to enjoy themselves also. I don't mean to come off sounding like I'm preaching here, I just think it's important that we give others around us the respect that we ourselves would ask for.

Yes, I have seen errections on and away from the beach...while they maybe natural...they are not considered appropriate except in very private settings...thus the need for you guys to carry an extra towel...one to sit on and one to cover up with it if the time occurs...*Note, not everyone who goes has that problem...so my advise to you is to:

1. Take an extra towel,
2. Read some of the past posts on this BB...others to have had similar problems,
3. Relax when you go to the beach...great opportunity to take a book you have been putting off reading...and actually read it instead of trying to focus on the other alternative...like your biggest fears of going in the first place and nude to top it off [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif[/img]

I'm glad to see new people comming to this forum.
I know it sometimes get's a bit tiring to answer the same questions over and over. But for these "new" posters it's important to find the answers.
I don't expect every new poster to spend hours looking over old posts to see if his question has already been answered. I know I certainly wouldn't.

Since it has been over thirty years since my first time at social nudity I don't recall if I had had an erection "problem" or not. However, I still occasonalyly have some wood when I wake up. Not a problem...just have the towel handy while I go to the old outhouse.

you are absolutly right, nude beaches and our clothing optional places are no place for an errection, thats not say it can't happen, if it does it's the guys job to make it not obvious, people especietly children, should not have to see you arrosed. please forgive my spelling.

I'm relatively new to naturism, but have never had an erection while in mixed company. Heck, I've rarely had an erection when nude at home unless my wife was tempting/teasing me.

Last time I was at Haulover, however, I did notice a man who was asleep who had an erection. That gave me a chuckle [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif[/img] and worried me a bit [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif[/img] ...cause that does happen to me at home. My wife said if she ever saw me do that on the beach, she'll drop a towel on me.
