  • Nude Hike Report

Well, I had a great experience several weekends agobefore it started getting really cold. I thought I would share with everyone here. It would fall into the secret naturism stories since I was alone.

As fall arrives and tourism grows slower, they start closing the campgrounds around the Flaming Gorge Area (Utah/Wyoming). Knowing this, I ventured out that way today for a little nude time outdoors. As I got closer, I was worried it may turn into a clothed hike, the heads up display was showing 62 Degrees and the wind was blowing pretty good. I continued on though thinking if nothing else I could seek a windbreak and just catch some rays.

I went first to Antelope Flats Campground. This was really an open area and probably not suited for my hike, but I figured if anyplace had noone around it would be there. Well, there in the campground was a lone forest service guy with a chainsaw trimming the sagebrush, making it even more open I guess. This campground is right off the Flaming Gorge reservior and out in the open so when the wind blows, I think it starts here! So I left not wanting to risk being seen by even the one person.

I then traveled to Mustang Ridge Campground. First I drove to the boatramp and found one boater leaving and a couple of people fishing at the boat ramp. Cool I thought, only two people in the whole area. I drove back to the campground which has a closed gate and parked at the gate. I walked in leaving my vehicle at the gate. It was still only 65 degrees and plenty breezy but, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. Walking up the hill into the campground told me it was warm enough! The campground is basically a figure 8 shape with the entrance at the 'top' of the eight. I walked nearly to the 'bottom' wondering if I really dared to walk around here naked. I found a campsite that had it's table full in the sun and I thought I would undress there and lay on the bench to soak up some rays. I took off my clothes and hadn't relaxed for two minutes when I decided what the heck...I put on my sandals and grabbed my Pepsi and headed off. I left my clothes on the table and hid my car keys. Funny how your mind makes you nervous even though you are sure in a safe area. I could just see someone taking my clothes and me having to find a way home naked. At least my car keys would be there!
I walked the road around the bottom loop of the '8'.

I guess the story is boring at this point, I mean it was just a walk in the woods! I saw several rabbits. I even spooked an owl to fly away, why it was roosted on the ground, I don't know. It was plenty warm once I had hiked for a few minutes. Too soon I was back at the site where I had left my things. I rolled them up, it was way too warm to wear anything now! I started the same direction, but this time I walked on the outside of the '8', there are many foot paths leading the the cliffs looking over the reservior. At one point, I came to a clear space and I could see the couple down at the boat ramp. Well, I could see they were there anyway, I was like a 400 yards from 'em and about 200 feet higher. I kept moving and headed along the foot paths. How could they be comfortable wearing sweaters and all...I'd roast!

About halfway around the '8' I made my way back to the road. As I walked I wondered what was the big deal. Why would people care if I did this in the summer? Wouldn't they want to do the same? I guess not everyone thinks like us nudists. Or maybe even more of them think that way than we know, they just don't act on it, or are afraid to let their family know they enjoy being naked. In my walk I was thinking if any of the campsites I saw would support nude use when the campground was full. If you're taking notes, I'd say for sure #37 if you want to reserve that now for next summer!!

I made my way around the rest of the '8' stopping again near the entrance and lay on the concrete sidewalk near the restrooms. The concrete was cool but the sun more than made up for it. I had probably spent 90 minutes nude, half of that not even carrying my clothes. I was certainly recharged physically and in spirit. Maybe too much so, because now I couldn't even think about dressing again. Do I dare to walk to my vehicle naked? I kept an eye on the incoming road for a few minutes, a section was visible probably a half mile away. After watching it for a few minutes and seeing noone I figured I could walk to my vehicle. Even if I saw a vehicle at that point now, it would be a few minutes until it got to the campground. I'd remain unseen unless the fishing couple happened to be on the way out of the area! OK, maybe this is too much risk, but I felt too good to put my clothes back on!

I made it to the vehicle without incident and got dressed and headed home. What a great afternoon. I guess what Folks should take away from my trip report is that there are alot of closed campgrounds that make for great hiking areas on the occasional warm day we have here this time of year. Oh and reserve #37 if you come out that way! I'm not sure you could get away camping nude, but it looked possible. But things look different when the 100 campers and boats and 300 people aren't inhabiting the place!

Sounds nice. It's amazing what can happen off season, and/or generally at times when people are elsewhere. I'm sure that area is quite pretty, even off season.

Enjoyed reading your report, Thanks for sharing it. It is good to get out and scout out potential spots to enjoy, and even better when you can really enjoy doing so, as you did
