Why Is Los Angeles County and City, and Las Vegas, Nevada so Uptight about nude or clothing optional beaches and facilities?

Nowhere in Los Angeles County is public nudity or clothing optional beaches legal, or allowed for the vast coastal beach front and millions of local residents, visitors, and tourists alike. Why?

I believe like Las Vegas Nevada, Los Angeles they fear that clothing optional beaches or facilities would interfere or take away from the big $$$ draw of entertainment, gaming, food, drink, and mainstream facilities for textiles, including the tax dollars or base those facilities draw.

Either one or both could be the west’s nudist, naturist and clothing optional draw or capital as are the Florida's resorts, clubs, and free beaches are on the east coast.

Probably wont happen as Los Angeles is known as the land of textile fruits, nuts and weirdo's for show off and the capitol of private sexually explicit pornographic industry.

    Hollywood
    Movie Studios
Muscle beach & Venice beach, Spring break's
    Disney Land
    Knots Berry Farm
    Marine Land
Other Theme Parks and Water Parks
FEARED OF LOSS OF TAX $$$

Probably won't happen in Las Vegas and surrounding counties known for textile:

    Gaming
    Entertainment, Stage Shows, Night Clubs
    Conventions
Surrounding counties houses of ill repute or prostitution.
    Mainstream theme hotels and parks.
Tourist attractions, Hoover Dam, Golf Courses.
    FEARED LOSS OF TAX $$$

Both Las Vegas and Los Angeles County and City could have separate areas of the existing Major theme, hotels, and parks for clothing optional use, construct new nudist and/or clothing facilities, and L.A. could develop or establish, construct existing areas, facilities or authorize private venture to establish nude, nudist, naturist, or clothing optional facilities, and beaches that would fill to capacity instantly, and be a draw not only for local but visitors and tourist alike, and bring in lots of tax revenue and business for all.

I've no idea why LA is like that. It didn't used to be.

There are so many places apart from the city or the beach that could be clothes optional or nude - spaces in the Santa Monica Mountains Natl Reserve, or the Los Angeles National Forest, or a myriad of places, close to the city/freeways, within a 50 mile radius of downtown.....

But, as I understand it, the whole county has a "no public nudity" ordinance, and its illegal to be naked in your own back yard if others can see.....

I was under the impression that Paradise Lakes was in the process of obtaining a site in Las Vegas for a clothing optional venue. I know they opened a site in Arizona so maybe they gave up on Las Vegas. I am sure it would be a money maker in LV.

          Al Bundy

Paradise Lakes I believe dropped that project in Las Vegas and went with other nudist resorts in the joint ownership of the just opened "Mira Vista" resort near Tucson, AZ.

The owners of four Nudist Resorts went together equally and purchased a turn key operation & prior clothing optional alternate lifestyle gay dude ranch near Tucson AZ, and named it Mira Vista Resort.

Plans to add park models and an RV park are in progress now.

CFI recently covered their grand opening and Video Spotlight on the resort in Hi Resolution see Video Edition #143 at:

Owners of the existing nudist resorts below from coast to coast went in together, bought, improved, and just opened a new Nudist Resort near Tucson called Mira Vista.

            Can you be serious!?

The only county I know of that is nudist friendly is Pasco County in Florida. Do you really think LA County is any different then the countless number of counties throughout the U.S.?

I would love for this county to be more open and I am in no means defending their currrent philosophy or position on nudity but this county and the city aren't any different than the countless other counties in California.

The people of L.A. County could not handle public nudity. Unlike someplace like Santa Cruz where it's no big deal, the large number of wackos would have a field day. The huge population of Hispanic men would fall over themselves trying to gawk. The yuppies would scream about decreasing property values the public masterbators would come out from under their rocks. It's a strange culture we have here, if it's any culture at all.

There are actually a couple of beaches where people go to sunbathe nude in Los Angeles County. This are very unofficial beaches and are generally known only by word of mouth. It is sad that people need to resort to basically hiding to order to avoid nasty ticket fines. Los Angeles County has a very restrictive policy towards nudism and yet they allow anything and everything in Hollywood so go figure.

My two cents: the mindset of the business faction in both places, being primarily "entertainment" meccas, is that the sight of skin must involve the payment of money by the viewer.

In LA it's the Hollywood film industry, officially, and the porn industry, unofficially. In LV, it's the showgirls on stage at all the big hotel/casinos.

You wanna see nakey? You gotta pay money!

In Las Vegas I think casinos and or hotels that would specialize in nude gaming would go over great, be popular, and give that extra reason to go there nudists, naturist, or those curious of the lifestyle of being free, naked, and relaxed.

They could sell items like nudist towels with money pockets, nudist money belts, hats with credit card holders, etc.

The only thing different a facility would have to do is build a large locker room for changing and storing your clothes if one was not staying there. The swimming pools, spas, steam rooms, and exercise room would remain the same as well as the restaurants, cocktail lounges, and stage show areas.

One of the Major hotel/casino's should try a conversion; who knows might be a big hit and change to a natural lifestyle vacation in glitter city.

                    What do you think?

I remember reading about a couple of large apartment complexes in Los Angles years ago that were square multi story complexes with the swimming pools and hot tubs and sunning areas in the middle. The complete complexes were nude or clothing optional.

Does anyone know if these units still in existence today as clothing optional apartment complexes? If not, I wonder why? City ordinances and codes, or just not popular enough to maintain the occupancy rates for the ownership/management.

The wackos are not exclusive to L.A., as much as I would like to perpetuate this myth so that less people would move to So. Cal., it just aint true.
