• Social Nudism and Attitudes

My nephew who lives with me, more or less, made an observation last year. He said that my attitude had improved considerably, and I was a lot less "grumpy" as he put it. I told him then that I was going to a nudist resort.

I hadn't realized how much I LOVE being at the nudist resort until he said that. I just had someone point out in a private message how negative I am. Unfortunately, he's right. While being at the nudist resort doesn't improve my financial condition any, it apparently does improve my attitude.

I guess that's why I'm getting so negative and grumpy again. I'm cooped up in my house because it's too cold to be nude outdoors, and I'm not a cold weather person. All these months of having to wear clothes even indoors is getting to me--a confirmed clothes-hater.

How many of you who can't be nude outdoors in the winter find your attitude being less positive? Or is it just me? Certainly a nudist is much happier when he or she can be nude; I know I am.

Hello Jon-Marc,
I don't have alot of time to write (work), but you are certainly not alone on this. I absolutly despise winter!!!
I didn't understand it at first, but time has taught me that the less I have to cover-up, the happier I am or positive as you say. I have a plan that will take years to evolve, but it is based on more naked more often which will lead to more happy more often. I have kept it to myself, as I had thought it was just me and abnormal to my textile freinds and family.
That is what I love about this forum... I find myself to be feeling along the same lines as others, no matter how few. At least there are others that think in the same way. (Not exactly the same because we are all individuals)

I have to go to work and when I go... I'm gone for days, so be as happy as winter will alow you to be!!!

Bart/Suntied,

I will try to change at least in improving my attitude. I am planning some drastic changes in my life right now. I'm burned out at work After 35 years with the same employer (government), and I need a change.

I went to my place of work and checked into retirement. I will possibly know Monday the 24th how much I will get if I retire. If I'm correct my retirement check should come pretty close to what I take home now after all the deductions that won't be coming out of my retirement check.

I put in an application at a local department store for a less strenuous job than what I'm doing now. With my retirement check and a full-time income, I should do a little better financially. That would take a load of worry off my mind and help to improve my attitude.

With more money I could go to Turtle Lake Resort this year and enjoy being nude when I'm not working. I'm too young enough to stop working entirely (57 this April), and retirement income wouldn't be enough alone. I've worked for the government since age 19, except for just under 2 and a half years of that time. It's time for a change. I know I won't make anywhere near as much at a store as I make where I am, but I will have 2 incomes versus one.

Maybe it has to do with how much sun you get.... this has been known to cause depression and grumpyness. I moved south so I could be in the natural sun more often. It just makes me feel better. Just being nude can make me feel better too.

How true cindiann, there has been alot of study on it. I have even seen the use of light therapy, when the natural sun is not available, and heard of its benefits.

If anyone has ever tried this I would love to hear if it worked.

Excellent topic Jon-Marc, My energy levels are definately drained by this time of year. I thrive on sunshine and fresh air.

Can we say "Cabin Fever"?

I hope to always have the means to take a trip to somewhere warm and nude in the middle of winter. There is nothing worse than having 8 months of weather that isn't fit for being nude.
Around here it isn't warm enough untll mid may and it starts getting too cold around mid september.
I scraped the frost off my windshield in the nude this morning.
It was 28 degrees.

I got to come home again and I just can't seem to resist sitting down and reading what new stuff has come up since I was gone.

The things Cindiann, ercNY and Steve are saying about sun, fresh air and those studies has got to be true. Even though we northerners have to hibernate like bares... I mean bears , I think we should try to get excited about the coming of spring soon! That should liven our spirits a bit. I wish I could live/move south right now, but I can't, so I just look forward to what is ahead... even if it isn't quite clear what that is!
I sincearly hope the changes you are going though turn out for the better. I am on the uphill side of a major delima in my life and I find that a positive attidute takes you in the right direction... which is UP!

I almost gave in to the dilima I mentioned and there was know were else to go , but up. So that is where I'm headed... and thanks to people like you in this forum... the climb is getting easier!!

I enjoy everyones company

Ben,

You're obviously more hardy than I am. I couldn't possibly go outside nude when it's only in the 40's. For those of you who think in celsius, that's not celsius.

As much as I want to be nude outside, temperatures barely above freezing don't do it for me. We had a couple of days in the 40's, and now it's dropping down to the teens and low twenties farenheit for highs.

Did your ankles get wet, or was it the bottom of your feet that wanted to stick to the ice?

Just curious cause I cooked burgers on the grill last night and thought my feet were going to stick to the deck!

Everything is better

Hey Bart, I know what you mean about the cold deck. I finally got some old carpeting when they remodeled the office next door, actually 1 yr old and FREE. I cut it to fit around the hot-tub and to the grill and new everyone has comfy feet when venturing outside nude in the winter. I roll up the carpet between snows.

It reached 50 today, sat on the deck in a lawnchair for some sun (heater by my side)
Bare on!

50 sounds like heaven... the only thing and I mean the ONLY thing I like about the winter is... MY BEER STAYS COLD!!!

The snow is not pretty and the icicles are even worse.

It only takes a few minutes to flip the dogs on the grill... out the door and right back in, Right?!?!

I miss summer (not an old girlfriend)

Jon-Marc...

That is why your so grumpy!!! Losen up buddy. Venture out there in the cold and tell me it isn't invigerating. Just a quick walk through the yard without a bit of protection will get some serious energy flowing through your viens!!! I think 18 degrees is the cut off.

Remember now... I said quick.

Relax, have fun, and strip
Living naked is your only tip!

Speaking of bare feet on ice, there is a full-length movie called Atanarjuat (The Fast Runner) that was produced by Inuit people and shot entirely in the High Arctic of Canada. It is an amazing movie, with the dialogue all in the Inuit language. It has been nominated for best foreign language film at this year's Oscars.

Anyway, there is a scene in the movie where the lead character is chased nude across the ice for what appears to be miles. The particular scene goes on for a long time, and presumably required several takes. I found myself cringing in my seat, not because the man's body was exposed to the extremely cold weather, but because he was running barefoot on the frigid ice for so long.

Very worthwhile to see if it comes to a theatre near you. Website at http://www.atanarjuat.com

Bart/Suntied,

It would definitely have to be VERY quick. The older I get, the COLDER I get, and the warmer I need it. That's why I'm going to check out Florida when I retire--which might be soon.

The lower part of my body can stand it a lot cooler than my arms and shoulders. I've been nude outside after soaking in a hot tub when it was in the 40's F. It felt quite comfortable because my body temperature was higher than normal after soaking in 104 degree water. Maybe there's some hope for me yet!
