Came across the folloing very cool website of nude hiking reports in the Alpine Lakes wilderness, east of Seattle. A beautiful area I know all too well. It includes also some useful analysis of the reactions encountered during the nude hikes.

It's always good to read positive results from someone hiking nude. I'm afraid I would get a lot of laughs when people saw my little nub of a penis. That's why I prefer being nude around other nudists who don't care, or at least they don't laugh where I can hear them.

This mirrors my experience as well though I must admit I have not hiked as many nude miles as this guy. I also find the more remote the hike the more a non-issue it is for the clothed hikers. In other words the farther you are from the cars the better your chances of a friendly encounter. You might have noticed my tag line at the bottom of this post, it was written by the guy that is considered the father of modern backpacking. I think you can guess how he preferred to hike.

I'd seen this site before. The Washington/Oregon area is supposedly relatively nudity tolerant, in the back country, at least. Of course my own experience suggests that even in places where things are generally fairly non-tolerant, if you behave yourself, negative reactions are surprisingly rare.

Any laughter heard may only be at the appearance of a naked person, not any specifics of the body. And I'll bet, behind the self-consience (?) laughter is a desire to have the nerve to be the nude person. Frank

It is a great website however it has been on line for a very long time and there has been no changes to it. It would be awesome if Steve could update his experiences in nude hiking.

I did hike part of the AT in August one year and there was no reaction because I didn't meet anyone.

Althought I have not hiked nude my self I hope to do so one day. If one really thinks about it, nude hiking is the definition of a naturist activity.

Anyone nude hike/walk in UK?
I enjoy nude hikes/walks in quiet areas of Sherwood Forest with local naturists for between 3-8 hours up to 25 miles
Great scenery, forest, heathland and fields- have spent wonderful days there

Temps hit a freakish 56*f here today (montana) I so wanted to get out and Freehike. Kind of aggravating to not be able to.
