I thought I would tell you about the saunas at the Glastonbury (music) festival, which I discovered this year.
It was actually my 2nd visit to the festival. Though last lear I did not discover these saunas on the site.
The first sauna I found was in "The Healing Fields". It was joined to a cafe. What was a little surprising was that the entrance to the sauna was not covered, and that anyone in the cafe could see through to the sauna and lawn! The sauna itself could hold about 12 people. Every person was nude. Don't know if it was a nude only sauna, but everyone who visited the sauna chose to go nude. Also surprising was the male/female ratio present. Pretty much 50/50. And another surprise was that everyone was very friendly and sociable, this in contrast to a nude health spa I visit regularly where most people tend to keep themselves to themselves. I chatted to several people whilst there. As well as the sauna there was a lawn too, where you could sunbathe nude if you wish. Plus two showers. Brilliant sauna. Fee for the sauna and lawn was £4 which I think is a fair price.
The other sauna I found was called "Sam's Sauna", though I can't remember the name of the field this was located. The sauna itself is a converted caravan, and could hold about 12-14 people. As with the other sauna, the male/female ratio is pretty much 50/50. Indeed, a couple of times I was in there I was the only male in the sauna and surrounded by 6 females. And like the other sauna, everyone was really friendly and sociable. This is how naked saunas should be. Most people were nude, apart from just a couple of females who chose to wear bikini bottoms. There was also a plunge pool and two showers too. This sauna was very busy, and was open 24 hours a day. Only around 11pm did it start getting quiet. Oh yes, and the saune was free too!
Two brilliant saunas which have my seal of approval. Well recommended if like me, you prefer a good mix of the sexes. I look forward to visiting there again next time, shame there isn't a festival until 2007 though.
Again, the real surprising factor of these saunas is the male/female ratio of roughly 50/50. Just how it should be. Why is it then that when I goto my naturist health spa venue there tends to be very few females(if any atall, as was my last visit) present? Is it because not many women know about the spa, or that many women are wary of visiting the spa?
