  • Your views on having your photo taken while nude??

I was asked to take a photo of a young couple at Studland beach this summer and was only too pleased to oblige. Have people here had their photo taken in the buff and if so, where and when and who took it?

I guess with the increasing popularity of digital cameras the potential embarassment of taking the film into be processed is no more!!

I can honestly say that I had rather be photographed nude than I had wearing anything.

That is true, with digital cameras the headache and concern taking your film to be processed is no longer an issue.

We take pictures of each other and on occasion have asked another nudist to take a picture of us together. We will usually ask someone who we know or have met and feel comfortable asking them to take the picture.

The problem arises when you produce a camera in a naturist setting. We have never taken a photo of anyone else that didn't ask for their picture to be taken. We are extremely cautious when taking pictures of each other that others are not in the frame. But, when you produce a camera in a naturist setting, beach, club or resort, many become suspicious, as we would. We always make sure that places we visit such as a club or resort know we have a camera and tell them we like to take pictures of each other for or travel log and album. We have had some owners and managers state that they would take the pictures, others just ask that they are present when the pictures are being taken.

It's hard to tell when someone is taking a picture in a naturist setting if they are taking pictures of themselves for themselves or pictures for other reasons. We visit a nude beach and have wanted to have our picture taken at the waters edge but each time we take our camera to the beach, we never run into anyone we know well enough to ask them to take our picture. Besides the fact that once you produce a camera at the beach, radar signals go off all over the place.

It's difficult to explain to everyone around you that the pictures you are taking or want to take are for our own enjoyment and do not include taking pictures of them without their permission.

So, yes we do take pictures of each other and sometimes get our picture taken together and it is easier with a digital in regards to development but still tricky at times producing a camera around nudists without raising suspicions, causing frowns and raised eyebrows.

I have had my photo taken dozens of times.
Most of them by my wife.

I don't mind having my picture taken as long as I know who's taking it. I'm not even worried about the pictures falling into "the wrong hands". If they don't already know I'm a nudist, I can't think of a better way to "break the ice" than to have them see a picture of me working or playing in the sun nude.

It is nice to have a digital camera. Most of my nude pictures have been taken with digital. But a couple times we forgot and used the film camera by mistake. My wife didn't dare get them developed so I had to go do it. The only comment I got from the photo lab was..."You have some really nice pictures there, where were they taken at?"
I'm pretty sure they were talking about the Scenery pictures and Not the ones I was in.

Haven't had many nude pictures taken and don't really know why. Perhaps double standard here..as a woman, I always think I am too fat, as a nudist I don't care! The pics I do have have been taken by friends.

Digital is the way to go but I understand most photo labs will process nude pictures unless they are pornographic.

I've been taking pictures at naturist and textile resorts & destinations since 1995 as I'm a travel writer/photographer.

I almost always have assignment notes from the editors of naturist publications, and the managers of the resorts give me permission to take pictures, sometimes suggesting their staff members to be the models. I *never, ever* would take a photo of a nude person(s) without first explaining what I am doing and then asking permission. Oftentimes, guests at the resort approach me, saying they've always wanted to model. I have them sign a model release form which allows me to have the picture published (online &/or in print) so I don't get sued!

My photos are discreet ones, rarely showing genitalia, as sometimes these discreet shots can be published in mainstream newspapers and magazines -- which simply furthers the cause of nude recreation.

(BTW, I do take the photos with a regular 35 mm camera, and just take them to the local drugstore to be developed. The prices are always good, and I could care less what the film technician thinks of what he or she is developing!)

I have had my picture taken nude primarily by my wife and some friends.

I also have asked strangers several times when I went to Gunnison beach while on a business trip (I had my picture taken at the "warning signs"). There was no hesitation on their part.

I primarily use digital now, but if I am going to the beach where sand can ruin the camera, (been there, unfortunately) I buy one of the High quality one tome use cameras.

Because of past experiences with film processing, I have no problem in getting film developed since the rules on what is a problem are very clear and not an issue.

I've had my photo taken many times in the buff and since I am not running for office or something I do not care! It is not like I am doing anything pornographic in public!

                    Good new topic.
I have had photos taken several times by a friend and I enjoyed the outcome pretty much. I think almost everyone wants to see how one looks in that type of setting. I have been approached on a beach when I was with my family once by a polite couple who asked if they could possibly take a few and I declined with a smile and they smiled back. In short, I have no problems as others have said IF I know the person and where they are going I suppose unless it was a fairly simple photo and not a close-up situation.
I enjoy Naturist Photography and always have, even as a kid growing up with TNS.
As for developing, we sent mine to Seattle Filmworks and they came back with prints and a digi CD and negatives.

i used to take non-digital pictures to eckerds to have them developed until i started getting them back with little stickers over the genetalia and little pre-printed corporate eckerds warning notes in with my film. since then i have switched to digital. we have been approached by people at haulover and while nude camping at sunsport offering to take a family picture using my camera, and that has always been appreciated. we have also had pictures taken of us at sunsport for their publications, though i am not sure if they ever used them for anything. regardless, i am not too worried about having my picture taken, but i would find it strange if someone approached me asking to take a picture of me with their camera, unless i knew they were an official photographer and carried identification.

I am certainly happy to hear that Seattle FilmWorks (now PhotoWorks) is okay with this sort of thing, since they're my film processor of choice. I've never sent them any nudes, but ....

Like most here I don't mind my picture being taken if I know the person. There was one notable exception though. I was in the Bare to Breakers in San Francisco back in 2000 and I couldn't even hazard a guess how many hundreds of times I was photographed. Some of those photos ended up on the internet and not all of them were on naturist friendly sites. None was a closeup, that I am aware of, so no big deal. Lets just say I am glad I won't be running for public office.

You really do not have to look too hard to find a place to get film developed. Both Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy (the two 800 pound gorillas in the US) have no problem with developing photos with nudity.

They do leave it up to the employee (comfort level check) as to whether they want to do it or not.

To not offend, I always told the person that the roll contained photos from a nude beach, resort etc. and asked if they would have a problem with developing and printing. I have only had one instance where the person declined.

Sure, lots of times, generally in naturist settings (nude hiking, hot springing, swimming, or just 'modeling', potentially for artists) by a number of other naturists and perhaps an artist or two.

I think naturist photography can be quite fun and enjoyable (on both sides of the camera, and I've been on both sides, plenty of times). I've very much enjoyed drawings and paintings of me that have been done, most of which have had photos as an intermediate part of that process. I enjoy supporting the artistic/creative process in this way and believe in the results and the potential for those results to communicate important thoughts and feelings about the human body, even beyond the naturist community.

What's the big deal? I do have a body and so does everybody else. I do not wish to 'show off', I have nothing to 'show off' as I look roughly like everybody else. I do believe figure drawing and naturist photography have great potential to communicate our [naturist] feelings about human bodies. I think this is sufficient reason to do it.
