Are those older pics from Sony? Looks like it, but interesting. There have been several album covers that have featured some sort of nudity, but not all have been Sony. Thanks for sharing.

It could have been a Playboy ad, because such ads were common in that magazine in its heyday (1960s-early 70s). It was, and is not unusual for the corporate world to produce custom ads for a particular audience and magazine.

What's really odd -- is found in the current battle between Blue Ray (Sony) and HD DVD formats. Very soon, many, if not most homes in North America will be changing their TV sets to accomodate high-definition television. The drop dead date for analog TV is February 17, 2009.

According to online reports, Sony has pressured its Blue Ray disc producers to NOT do business with the adult entertainment industry. So all those people who make "X movies" are going to HD DVD.

Since adult entertainment afficianadoes were often the first and biggest users of new technologies -- the VCR and the DVD -- this view seems to me to be rather short-sighted on Sony's part.

It's possible that neither ad was used in the US. Having said that, I don't think the first ad would have been thought out of place in the late '50s/early '60s. However I'm having trouble remembering whether we had TV sets that small back then.

Well, I don't have any SONY components at home. As a matter of fact I don't even have a TV connection. However, I do appreciate the photos and the reminder that even dogs enjoy watching TV.
