We're going on our first cruise this summer and we'll be going on a Holland American ship. I've looked at the cruise lines web site but I've seen nothing about its sunbathing areas other than that they have them. I was hoping someone might have cruised with this line before and have some knowledge of their policies or what's available. Thanks!

We've cruised on a number of lines, including Holland America. In addition to the space around the pools the forward area on the topmost deck open to passengers is typically used for sunning. You'll likely find that there is glass around the sides to break the wind. Cruise lines use different names for their decks, but it's common to find this one called the sun deck. If you look at the deck plan found in your cruise brochure or online, you'll be able to find it.
If your question really is, "Will I be able to sun nude?" the answer is no. A very few lines permit topless sunning, but Holland America isn't among them unless they've had a policy change.
If you booked a cabin with a balcony you may have some luck there. Some balconies offer good privacy between cabins and some don't, but I haven't so far found one that I couldn't use to get in some discreet nude time.
The bright side of all this is that you'll be cruising on a beautiful 5 star ship. You'll have a great time.
