I have found that I become selfconscious when applying sunscreen to certain areas of my body when I am at a campground, resort, or beach. I don't want anyone to think I'm am some pervert touching myself. Anyone else feel this way?

I try to turn away when I do certain parts but think it just makes it look worse.
I nearly break my arms trying to put sunscreen on my back.
I don't even know how to approach others to help out. Would anyone help a stranger to put it on for them.

hehehe... when I went to the c/o beach this past week, I struggled with this very issue.
Actually, what I did was to simply apply it to the parts that might cause embarassment (it didn't) and simply move on to the rest of my body. I think because I wasn't trying to get aroused, it became like taking a shower....
I do agree with Ewan.... doing my back is a bit difficult. Haven't asked anyone, so I pretty much just didn't do it... luckily, I didn't get sunburn. Didn't know if asking would be appropriate, so I did the safe thing, not wanting to offend so early in my adventures into this new life.

For more information on how to apply Sunscreen, my suggestion is to look through the archives on this BB, in the past, there has been quite a bit of discussion on this very topic, especially around the time everyone thinks of hitting the beach or wherever it is they like to escape the rat-race of the textiles.

An easy solution to applying sunscreen is to purchase one of those cheap sponge dishmops. The plastic handle gives you just the needed extention to reach those out of reach back areas. I burned those bits a couple of times and thought hard and long on a solution.
Yeah, you may look a bit silly when using it but it's a lot better than those red patches you'd get if you burned.

Applying lotion to your back is easier if you put the lotion on the back of your hand. It will allow you to reach further across your back.
As for the other issue, chances are everyone there did it too, so you are not doing anything out of the ordinary.

No one pays attention to a person applying sunscreen; it's considered a normal part of the nudist experience. I've seen people spend a lengthy amount of time applying it; it could simply be that the person is extra-weary of sunburn or is combining massaging and lotioning. The private area? Just a "once-over" will do, and no one will care.

Nobody is gonna pay any attention unless you massage private areas for an extended lenght of time. A minute won't be noticed.
I sunbath during the cool months when it's hard to burn. Then I don't burn in summer heat and haven't needed any sunscreen because I start the summer dark. Can't remember last time I used any.

Sorry, can't be of any help here. I don't wear sunscreen at all. I just be careful not to stay in the same position for too long of time. I know, not the smartest thing to do, but so far, I've managed to keep the sunburns to a minimum.
Nice to see you posting again greensunshine.

Common sense is the best advice. Can't argue with that logic.

Once at a camp, beach or resort most all the attendees share the same issues. I have had no problem requesting that some one put some loation on by back. And I have always asked if I could do the same for them. It's actually a way of starting a conversation and getting to know the people that you are sharing the facility or beach with.
All the best

Just apply the sunscreen to those areas as you would anywhere else - don't make a big deal of it, or make an effort to hide what you're doing - otherwise it looks worse than it really is.
Everybody else puts on sunscreen too - sometimes many times during the day - it's no big deal...
