My Naked Bike Ride

Though not an avid cyclist, I do enjoy bike rides of a couple hours or more especially on trails constructed on abandoned railroad rights of way. Just don't get the opportunities I would like. Today, I took the time for about a 35 mile ride and was bold enough to ride a bit more than ten miles of it naked. The trail passed farmland, through wooded areas, and past back yards as well as crossing several roads. In the middle of the day in the middle of the week there was little chance of seeing another cyclist, only saw four on the entire trip, but I was careful about where I rode nude since I took notice of where it could be done on the return trip. I found it to be exhilarating. The breeze created by my ten to fifteen mile per hour pace felt so much better on bare skin than through bike shorts and a tee shirt. The big surprise for me was how good my bare bottom felt on the seat. I had anticipated it to be a bit sticky, but was just as comfortable as with the bike shorts. I will certainly find other opportunities to ride naked and if I ever start riding after dark, there is no question about what I will be wearing.

When I lived in FL, I used to ride in a pair of split side running shorts, no shirt. Much better than those long legged biking shorts.

For short trips around town while running errands it really does not matter what I wear as long as I have some pockets. On longer rides for recreation I have worn jeans and a jacket in cooler weather, shorts with a four inch leg, the running style shorts without underwear jansenj suggests, the same shorts with bikini briefs, only bikini briefs, and the crotch padded bike shorts. I like the bike shorts the best. The padding helps and the longer leg prevents chafing.

There are two mountain bike trails within a few minutes drive from my house. I've ridden both of them nude. The trick is to go at dawn. Both trails are in parks with pedestrian trails, and some people do like to walk early in the morning, so it is necessary to keep shorts on until away from the parking area, but I've never seen other mountain bikers early in the morning.

With overnight temperatures usually in the upper 40's or low 50's, nude biking at dawn could be a chilling affair. However, it is not too cold then for the mosquitoes.

Nudist parks are generally very bicycle friendly, but the best one for mountain biking that I've visited is Bar S Ranch in Reidsville, NC. Bar S Ranch has large property with only a small area that is developed and an extensive trail system through the remainder of the heavily wooded property. My avatar photo was taken there. Bar S Ranch is several hours drive from where I live, and it has been a few years since my last visit. The management now seems heavily focused on building membership rather than serving visitors.

I now have a trail within a half mile from my house and love it. It is not possible to ride nude even in the early morning because of others on the trail who run, walk, or bike, but I have found that if I ride about an hour after sunset, I can be nude without much worry. I now have an old guy's bike and no longer need bike shorts. I will ride shirtless during the day and at night my headlight is at the right spot to create enough glare that a cyclist coming from the other direction would not be able to notice that I was naked. Someone passing from behind also would be unlikely to notice.

I regretfully stopped it when I got pregnant with my daughter. Before that, I often practiced this type of rest. The first time I did it was at the age of 16. As a test of your character. I enjoyed it.

Defunct railroad beds that have been converted to trails are an awesome place to ride. This one is in rural central Washington.
