I take the lead in finding new places to visit, when it comes to nudism. The Prof has taken the lead when it comes to visiting someplace we've visited a few times. I'd been wanting to branch out from behind our backyard and take our nudism public/social for quite some time (20 years!). While she was gone on a conference for two days, I told her that I was going to visit the local club and check it out. When she returned, I told her that I decided to check out the nude beach instead and I thought that she would find it easy to dip her toes into public/social nudity ... without having to be social.

She agreed to visit the beach and within 15 mins, after we set up our chairs and towels, she stood up from her chair, took off her t shirt and shorts and was naked ... and hasn't looked back since. The Prof likes routine and the unknown makes her nervous. New places where she doesn't know the layout and routine, she feels out of place and slightly uncomfortable. She gets through it easy enough but she's not one that will charge into a place we've never visited and act like she's been there 100's of times. Just not her personality. She felt quite comfortable at the beach. She knew where she wanted to sit, knew some of the people sitting next to us and if I went for a walk, she felt fine sitting alone and felt safe.

Our biggest complaint about the nude beach ... the only one we have left here in So Cal is difficult to get to as we get older. The walk down is steep and the trek back up is a challenge. We don't go as often as I'd like but now when we do visit, I always rent a room for the night so we can drive to the hotel and get cleaned up and have a nice dinner out. I miss our naked drives home ... and we still do them once in a while when we have to be home that night but not as often as we used to.

Her idea. And after the long walk into Mazo Beach she was the first one to undress. Sad that this wonderful beach is closed now. A half-mile nude beach in the entire State of Wisconsin was just too much nudity.

Thank you Wisconsin DNR for saving me a 4 hours each way drive to the beach. I'll spend by tourist money somewhere else. If I want to wear coverings at a beach, Chicago has some nice ones less then an hour away.

        Sorry, I got off topic.

Yes, it's a shame the political conservatives finally got Mazo Beach closed. It will never re-open as a nude beach. I hoped the closing would pump up attendance at the club in the area, but based on my own observations, that did not happen. Same group of cliquey old people time after time.

Well, I don't know if it was "political conservatives" - or just some people thinking that the preserve could be developed for more general use. I don't know, I don't live in Wisconsin, but after reading the general plan for development of the site, it tends to make sense, from a resource management point of view (yes,, heresy!) but perhaps from a Wisconsin taxpayer's point of view it might also make sense - or - politically easier to sell to the voters than dedicating it to nude use.

As far as going to a club, and complaining about "cliquey old people" - if you're younger - and have friends - visit the club in a group. More often than not, they would WELCOME younger people. If, say, ten of you went out to the club the same day - you'd have your own clique - and it would be younger people, and you should be able to co-exist with them.

Kinda the same argument we used to hear about other clubs - "too many guys, a sausage fest" but if, say, five or six couples went to an event in spite of the tilted ratio - then the tilted ratio would disappear or at least, be reduced. In yesteryear it was "single/solo guys". Today it's "old people". Same thing.

To get back ON TOPIC - however, a first experience for anyone is the first impression - if you had the idea of going to a nudist facility or club - and have a hesitant partner - you;d better hope the first experience is a good one - you never have a second chance to make a first impression.

And if -say - a female partner has a bad experience the first time out - it COULD be her *last* experience that she'll be willing to share with you! Our first experiences together were at nudist parks - in the days when a single man or woman might have difficulty gaining admission or acceptance.

              It was sort of accidental.

Many years back, holiday in France. On way back from beach where wife had gone topless (to be in the majority) I spotted a sign to another beach. Just went to see what it was like and found it was somewhat more exposed, i.e. nudist friendly. Decided if my wife could remove one item of swimwear, then so could I. On second visit wife decided she could also go nude. And still continues in right circumstances.

You'll never get it to change unless you make the first move. This is the same tired argument I've read on every nudist site by the younger nudists ... "same group of cliquey old people ..." The ONLY way to change that is to get all your younger friends to go and make the changes you'd like from the inside. Those that inhabit the clubs are not going to change just because you say ... we won't go because the club caters to old people. Most of the time, the clubs don't even know what you want in order to visit and become members.

The younger nudists need to stop whining and demanding and put something concrete behind their concerns and needs. Go to the club of your choice, get involved and get the younger people involved as well. Nothing will change by complaining on a nudist website forum. ;-)

Unfortunately I've never been to a strictly nude beach before. Just the lake at the club I've visited a few times so far, but it was most certainly a solo decision. Guess I'll have to get out there and do some traveling before even the moderately close beaches get closed or patrolled. Not many legal nude beaches around here.

As for the old cliquey people issue. . . Not sure how long it's been since some of you were considered "young naturists," but nowadays I know if I were to ask even my closest friends to come with me to a naturist resort/club/park/beach, I wouldn't have friends anymore. Fortunately for me though, I don't find the older generation to be too intolerable to keep me from going myself. If we're being honest though, the way most of my generation acts, I'm sort of glad there aren't a lot of them around to run these clubs into the ground.

I find there are more younger people at the beach. The beach is free. Clubs cost a good deal of money. A $40.00 day fee to use a pool would keep me away.

This happened with my wife at a local nude resort. We decided to try this place and met up with nudist friends that were visiting from R I . He wrote a nudist travel blog and was visiting the area and visiting the local clubs and resorts with his wife. The resort was owned and operated by a couple. She was quite friendly and accommodating. He was a bit too full of himself. The afternoon/early evening was going well with the 6 of us, the only ones in the whole resort, were in the hot tub and my wife asked a simple question; how long have you been nudist? He, the male owner, went on a rant about being labeled a nudist, to the point where it made my wife very uncomfortable. I spoke up and told him to chill out and not talk to my wife that way. His wife stepped in and berated him and he left the hot tub. I was sure we'd be asked to leave but about 30 mins later, he emerged from the office and offered my wife a full apology and us a night's stay for his behavior. My wife has not wanted to return to this place since! First experience ... not good and she'll harbor that negative experience til hell freezes over!

Went to a nude beach or went nude on a beach? ;-)
The former was a group decision (friends) to visit Hippie Hollow. Not sure who suggested it. Before that, friends and I took a private plane to a deserted island when I was sixteen. My decision to nudify the island and got my first sunburned butt.

My first nude beach visit was my idea, and took several attempts. The beach is Gunnison Beach on Sandy Hook in New Jersey, which is a 3 hour drive. On the first try, in the early 1990s, I got cold feet, and turned off at an outlet mall in the Poconos of Pennsylvania. I bought clothes instead. I think what gave me courage was when I just happened to be talking with a friend about how I sleep naked. He said, "go to Sandy Hook." and then the next week I did. That was 1998. I have gone almost every year since then. I wish I took photos of myself back then, but here is last year's visit.

i can't remember the name of the resort in jamaica but it has since closed or changed its name to some thing else. seems to me it had "eden" in its name. this was probably about 35 years ago now. but when we were planning the trip, i told my wife about it ahead of time, said there was a nude beach, but it was clothing optional so she didn't have to go totally nude. i went nude and she went topless. but it's been so long now, maybe she went nude - i can't remember. she now tolerates my nudity and knows i like to go to nude beaches but the most she will bare on the beach is her breasts .

It was totally my idea being I am a single male and that no one in my family or in my circle of friends were interested in going with me. It was in June of July of 1992. The venue was Black's Beach in La Jolla,C.A. I had read about it in numerous nudist/naturist publications and magazines about a year before my trip. So, I finally mustered up enough courage to drive down there to check it out. It was quite interesting and enjoyable! Upon my arrival, I fell in with a group of other nudists who were hanging out together at this one spot on the sand. They welcomed me with open arms and didn't seem to mind that I was a single male at all. This one guy was doing some body painting on this young girl. After wards, they set up a volleyball net and naturally we played some naked volleyball after a nice hearty lunch! I think we played about three or four sets and from there we all took a nice dip into the ocean. At that time, the crowds were quite large and included a few children. But that's not why I went there! Anyway, we did have some difficulties with a couple of guys who were there to simply gawk at the ladies. Well, we had some help from two of the lifeguards there. They saw what they were doing and asked them to kindly move on and look for a spot elsewhere. And of course, there were some guys upon the cliff looking down at us with their binoculars. A couple of the ladies gave at least one of them an unkind gesture if you know what I mean! But they deserved it.Other than than, the day was rather nice and I really was happy that I went there. As I stated earlier, I was by myself and was a bit concerned about how the other nudists would take to me. As we all know, being a single male is practically taboo in a lot of nudist/naturist resorts and camps. But it wasn't by choice since, as mentioned earlier, no one is my family was interested in nudism/naturism and they still aren't being we were raised in a real strict Christian home and philosophy. I used to get spankings or whippings for running around our house naked as a child. You get the picture on that? Also, none of my friends, neighbors, or co-workers were nudists/naturists, which meant asking them to accompany me to a nude beach was totally out of the question. So, there's my story along with my answer!
