  • 2020 5K runs/walks nude and otherwise

As part of my get in shape to live longer I started doing 5K runs. I only got one done before Covid hit and they all canceled. They started to get rescheduled but are mostly canceling again as the virus got much worse here in Georgia. . The 5K at Paradise Valley Resort was rescheduled to Oct 10th and I hope to make it. That'll be my first nude one.

i had only found out about nude 5k runs a few years back and participated in them at turtle lake resort in 2018 and 2019. it was cancelled this year so i was not able to run my nude 5k this year. i was sorry to miss it.

during a "regular" year, i usually participate in about 14 5k runs with the first one taking place in march. with COVID all my usual runs have been cancelled here in the chicago area. there are several virtual runs where i can run on my own and submit my time, but they are not just the same. i have done a few of those this year so far. i can run outside and avoid anyone along the way so i can run without a mask. i do however have a mask with me and will put it on if i have to pass another person who is out for a walk or run.

since i am closer now to 70 than i am to 60, i am cautious about large gatherings of any kind and am just as happy NOT to participate in any large gathering 5k runs. until a vaccine is available and i get one, i don't think i will running my typical 5k races, nude or otherwise.

The 5K race at White Tail Park in Ivor, Virginia, was cancelled this year. I have been run it every year since 2012. My times have actually been improving. The course is three laps around the park. I am now fast enough that the winner last year didn't pass me during my second lap.

People of all physical types participate in the event. A lot of people just walk it, but quite a few serious runners also participate. One year, an NCAA cross country champion from Virginia Tech participated. He passed me before I was even at the halfway point of my second lap.

Your times are so much faster than me. But I enjoy running at WhiteTail. Missed running there this year.

If you have the opportunity to run nude on a beach, I highly recommend it. The following photo was taken by my wife on a beach in the Virgin Islands.

Those times are really good. With one replaced knee and the other giving occasional pain I do more of a shuffle walk and aim to break 45 min. I finished 1st in my age group in that one earlier this year. ;>) I hope to do 3-4 this year mainly to motivate me to get out and run/walk more.

Where is this at? It’s hard to find a safe place to run.

This is Fourth of July Pass in North Cascades National Park complex. It is remote and takes some effort to get to. We camped up here and in the morning before day hikers would arrive, we had several hours to explore the wilderness naked. Really cuts down on pack weight to bring one change of hiking clothes and wear only when needed!
