How would you react if your local swimming pool announced that all swims would be clothing optional for the next year? No, this has not happened in my town

The second part of the question is that you decide to take advantage of this new rule, go into the changing room to undress, and then walk out to the pool and realize that you are the only naked person. Do you keep swimming or go back into the changing room and get dressed?

I have been in this situation. I have no problem stripping off in front of clothed people as long as they aren't offended.
Last summer, I was at a beach in northern California that was traditionally nudist. There were a few other people present, and they were all clothed. I asked a couple near me if they would be offended if I went nude. They indicated it would be okay, so I did. I later learned that another nearby beach was now the nude beach for that area. Parking lot access had been improved at the beach where I was, which had led to an increase in usage by non-nudists, so the nudists had shifted to the other beach.
I can recall a few other times that I have been the only one nude. Someone has to be the first to strip. Often others will follow.

I guess that checking to make sure that I was really in the right place would be a good thing to do. But I have not had any problems in the past with being the only nude person present where everyone else was closed--some looking like they would really perfer to be nude.

I am certain that I would enjoy the pool more frequently, and I would not be concerned if I were the only nudist there. If asked to leave or get dressed, I'd more than likely leave. Otherwise, I would make my effort to get nudity more acceptable in places where nudity is practical. When someone sees or spends time among naked people without grave physical consequences like fainting and heart attack, that someone may just realize that nudity can be normal and enjoyable.

Wouldn’t that be great!?
I would celebrate having one of our over 100 public pools designated as clothing optional. So too would a sizable number of our community. Such a dream but, the “powers that be” are so conservative they refuse all those suggestions. I bet that even if single, they would change clothes and shower in total darkness to avoid seeing even themselves naked. 😲
