After you decided to become a nudist, how long did it take for you to stop reflex covering up when someone comes into the room

Isn't this a fundamental part of being a nudist - making a conscious decision to not automatically cover up when seen by someone else?

This was a big revelation about nudism for me the day I first saw nudists on a beach. The nudists weren't operating on the quid pro quo of "You show me yours, and I'll show you mine." They didn't care if they are seen nude by other parties as long as those other parties didn't have malicious intent.

If you are going to live clothes free, as soon as you start that life you should be prepared for surprise encounters. I have at times just stayed nude and had the conversation with the other person. Other times I put on shorts but did it right in front of the other person. So, to answer your question, it was as soon as I decided to be undressed during my normal day at home.

That's a good question. My question in return would be: "Does nudism automatically diminish inhibitions?"

I know nudists who are only really comfortable being seen nude by "confirmed nudists", i.e. who also partake in social nudity. I guess one could say they are "selectively uninhibited." Most often it is driven by a desire to not "shock" people that they have not ascertained as being comfortable with nudity.

This happened to me just yesterday. I had been nude for almost two full days when my neighbor came into the house through the back door. I had been in the living room preparing to go out, yet still naked. I grabbed the shorts that were handy and just held them in front of me. He waited in the kitchen while I returned to the living room to get dressed. I was not concerned about being seen nude. I was concerned about his comfort. Had I been in the kitchen when he came in, I would have, as I have done before, just remained nude.

A few years back one of my wife's best friends - who was spending the week end at our home - walked in on me while I was naked in the bedroom (she'd knocked on the door but I hadn't heard). She'd known about our nudist ways, so she wasn't surprised; and when I saw that she wasn't "shocked" and maintained eye contact with me, I saw no reason to conceal. She wanted to update me on my wife's whereabouts; and we had a brief exchange before I headed into the bathroom and her out the door. She then later told my wife about the interaction and that it hadn't been weird at all for her. No problem. Had she not been clearly comfortable with the interaction, I would have simply turned away and asked to her to wait for me to get dressed.

On a side note, ironically she was just here a few weeks ago and spent one night at our home. I left for work early in the morning, and when I came home that night my wife told me her friend had spent the entire morning naked! She said that since we were a nudity-friendly home, she would just take advantage and enjoy it for a while. Glad to know I actually inspired her lol!

Nudonyll, Loved your friend's decision to try nudity with your wife. I think you deserve credit for that because you did not cover up when she walked into the bedroom. I believe some people just need a little example of how to be a nudist. Maybe she will be nude with both of you on her next visit.
Wife and I shared a vacation house last weekend with a couple who have been long time great friends. House was 2 bedrooms 1 bath. We are all mid-sixties so a middle of the night trip to the bathroom is normal for all of us. As I walked back from the bathroom Jane opened her bedroom door for her nightly trip. Since i sleep nude Jane got the full Monty. I she said hi with no reaction. I said bathroom is all yours and walked into my bedroom.
At breakfast Jane and I told the story to the spouses who just laughed. They now know we sleep nude. We suggested they give it a try. Dave likes the idea but Jane was hesitant. Would love to have them be nude friends...
