  • William Hearst Memorial Beach

I know years ago this was a clothing optional beach. Does anyone know if it still is? I've tried searching the web but can't get confirmation just people saying how beautiful the beach is but no mention of nudity.

My 1998 edition of Lee Braxandall's World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts states the following.

    Hearst State Park
Hearst State Park at San Simeon has a parking lot (fee charged) from which you can walk to "the cove", a beach beyond a row of state park pilings that serve as boundary markers. Nude sunbathing in the cove has annoyed Hearst Corp. managers but it's public land to the high tide mark. Go past all buildings before disrobing.

I looked at the SFGate Nude Beach list, which was last updated in 2017. Hearst State Park is not mentioned. The list can be found at the following URL. The URL doesn't like being directly linked, but you can copy and past it into the address line of your browser.

While the Baxandall book is a wonderful, pictorial, coffee table book - it's 25 years old , and is in no way an accurate reference guide in 2023. I would not use it as a reliable reference guide to find nude locales.
