  • Bluebonnet or Wildwood? Which one is best?

Me and husband are going on our second nudist resort trip (our first one was to Avalon in West Virginia). We are in Oklahoma and we have found two resorts in Texas within driving distance (about five hours). We have read posts on Wildwood and Bluebonnet and both seem nice. We are trying to decide which one to go with. We plan to stay for a Friday night, Saturday night, and maybe a Sunday night. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

ADDENDUM: Several things factor into our decision on which place to go: 1) Do they have nice but reasonable accommodations? 2) Are their members friendly and accommodating to newbies? 3) Is the dance music on Saturday nights mostly rock & roll and disco (our favorite kind)? 4) Are the swimming pools and hot tubs well-maintained? 5) Are there hiking trails available?

Many of your questions can be answered by calling the resort and asking. As to quality and friendlyness they all will say they are the best but you need to hear that from those who have been there. As to what they have a simple phone call will tell you.

        Hello "CB & Di",

Before I moved to Houston at the end of 2003, I was a member at Wildwood ... and I've visited Bluebonnet several times for their Nude 5K Races.
One thing to keep in mind is that Wildwood is a newer club than Bluebonnet, so most of the facilities are newer as well. The club house at Wildwood is taller and more airy, but it doesn't have a nice big kitchen like Bluebonnet's. Both have a game room with Pool and Ping Pong Tables.

I'll be referring to these image galleries: Bluebonnet and Wildwood.

        1) When I was a member at Wildwood, they had two or three Rental Rooms in the original farm house on the property (Wildwood was a Dairy Farm before becoming a Nudist Club). Since then, a member has bought the house so the rooms aren't available any longer. Wildwood now has some rental cabins.
Bluebonnet has a variety of Rental Cabins and Trailers. The Rental prices at Bluebonnet seem to be lower than at Wildwood.

        2) Both clubs have fun and friendly members. If you go to either club, and have an outgoing & friendly attitude yourself, you'll be made welcome by the members. The clubs usually have a Pot Luck meal on Saturday night, so take, or go to the grocery store in Decatur and get, some food for the meal.

        3) I know that Rick, at Wildwood, has a nice big sound system and a really large collection of music for the Dances. He's got everything from Oldies Rock-n-Roll, to Modern Rock, Country, and Novelty songs.
I don't know as much about the dance music that's played at Bluebonnet.

        4) Both clubs have nice clean Pools and Hot Tubs.
Wildwood now has 2 Swimming Pools. They added the second, larger Pool to the right of the Pool and Hot Tub shown in the Fifth Photo, and moved the Children's Playground down the hill to the area, lower and just right of center, shown in the Third Photo.
From reading their Newsletters, it appears that Bluebonnet is building a second Swimming Pool now. I believe it's to the left of the Pool shown in the Fifth Photo down on the Left.
The Hot Tub at Wildwood is on the Pool deck, under the Dome-shaped cover seen on the left side of the Seventh Photo. It's probably a 6-8 person Hot Tub.
The Hot Tub at Bluebonnet is almost twice as large, and is placed beside the Sauna and Bath House, as seen in the Sixth Photo down on the Left and Fourth Photo down on the Right.

        5) Both clubs have nice cross-country hiking / running trails.
Part of Wildwood's is shown in the Ninth Photo and Tenth Photo.

Take Care & Have Fun Bare,
        David

Why not try Oak Lake Trails. It's a lot closer to you, midway between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

My wife & I belonged to Oak Lake Trails before we moved out of Oklahoma. We have also visited Bluebonnet and Wildwood. We much prefer Oak Lake Trails over the other two. The people are very friendly and with over 400 acres of land, the hiking is terrific. They don't have any accommodations other than rv and camping spaces. You could also rent a motel room in Stroud.

Between Wildwood and Bluebonnet, we prefer Wildwood. Nicer facilities and friendlier people.

Whatever you decide, you really need to visit Oak Lake Trails even if it's just for a day.

          Have fun.

          Bob

Never been to wild wood but been to both Blue Bonnet and Oaklake trails. I liked them both. Both were very friendly and welcoming. I did email wildwood but I got a rather cool response when asking about a visit. It could have just been the person on the other end but it made up my mind for me since it was about the same distance to Blue Bonnet. I had a good time and if you are going on a Saturday be sure to bring something for the Pot luck dinner and stay for the dance afterwards.

I agree about Oaklake. Wife and I only joined last year, but it's so relaxing and the people there are great.

              Good luck.
